I have bad experience about these buses. We buy VIP tickets, there should be USB sockets, WiFi, TV, cofee, but nothing was there. WiFi doesn't work, light doesn't work, even my chair was broken and A/C was so loud that i was needed to sleep with my headphones. And it was super cold inside. It was definitely not VIP

We took the bus from Flores to Guatemala City, paid more for VIP class tickets. Seats were great, got a blanket, snack pack and water. But let me ask you, why the hell you put A/C so strong? It was almost as cold as on the top of Acatenango. People are not fresh meat, they do not need to be transported in low temperature.

I had an amazing experience with this company! I don't know if the other reviews are out of date, but my bus was practically brand new, with TVs, very comfortable seats and an attendant offering complimentary water bottles. The design was very nice and there was plenty of room for me to sit. There was a nice bathroom on board. The only thing that could have made the bus nicer in my opinion is an outlet to charge my phone mid-ride.
The station isn't as nice, but it's comfortable and has an adjacent cafe to buy snacks or a meal. They also have complementary water and (weak) coffee.
The best part of my experience was the price! I paid 70Q from Guatemala City to the Hidalgo Mexico border.response / report this review -

If it were possible I would give this company 0 stars. I requested 2 tickets with their Maya de Oro line, which is considered their "high class" service to leave at 10 pm from Santa Elena with destination to Guatemala City. 9:30 pm comes around and they start boarding us onto a FDN bus. When informing the attendants that we had paid for their Maya de Oro bus, NOT FDN, we were told that was the only bus going out at 10, in other words, we either went on it or were left behind. The bus was in the same condition you would find a "chicken bus." The seats are old, dirty, squeaky, stinky and don't recline. The air conditioner? It's controlled by the driver and he had us nearly suffocating, he didn't turn it on until about 30 minutes into the ride and even then, would turn it off periodically. The restroom was beyond disgusting and filthy. To top it off, the bus broke down TWICE and the driver nor his assistant had the courtesy of informing us of anything. Another passenger tried finding out what was going on but was turned away by the driver saying "don't worry about the bus, go have a seat." I ignored the driver's comment and stepped out the bus to find out what was going as I heard him and his assistant opening cargo doors and dragging a car jack out. Apparently something was loose in what appeared to be the break system of the front right wheel. And considering the journey from Santa Elena to Guatemala City consisted of many cliffs, knowing the bus was in poor mechanical condition was extremely nerve wracking. It took them more than an hour to "fix" said problem. We hit the road again just to pull over about 30 minutes later. They checked the bus again and said they had encountered ANOTHER problem, a different one. They had us sitting there, in the middle of nowhere, knowing absolutely nothing as to what was going on for about another hour and a half. Not once did they bother to inform us of anything and when asked they would get bothered and never did they consider requesting another bus to assist us. Three buses stopped to find out what was going on but were soon turned away. A trip that was meant to be no more than an 8 hour trip turned into an 12+ hour trip. If you want to do yourself a favor and not live a real nightmare, DO NOT TRAVEL WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I repeat, DO NOT TRAVEL WITH THIS COMPANY!!! It is the worst!

the most HORRIBLE experience in my life!
if possible, i would rate 0 stars!
don't ever book a bus ride with this company!
we booked a "first-class" ticket from Guatemala City to Flores with maya oro.
First: the bus is old, it's rusty outside and it gives you an idea of how it will look inside.
The Seats are disgusting and never been cleaned in its life and FAR AWAY from being first class and comfortable.
but if that only would be the worstthey cool the bus down to 5C degrees. it's so freezing, that you nearly can see your breath!!!! and blankets is a foreign word.
also it stinks all the time from the toilet, i avoided to use
the bus driver is completely unfriendly and don't actually want to understand you.
NEVER AGAIN
i deeply recommend you to never book a ride with this overpriced disgusting bus company!response / report this review -

I know that you are planning to use this service if you are reading this, I want to let you know that if you are traveling to Guatemala and want to visit any place that thia company offers please follow my advise DO NOT BUY TICKETS HERE.
Im Guatemalan and I want to let you know that this company had their buses with low maintenance and the usually get mechanical issues on the road almost every day, we had a problem going to Tikal but if you go to any other place, it would be most likely the same the bus was the most expensive one and I saw a couple of tourists from othe countries getting ff the bus in the middle of nowhere since the bus dis not wor anymore.
On my way back the did the same thing the main bus crashed we spent 2 hours waiting trying to get it fixed and the they transfer us to a lower class bus that took forever to take us back to the city, when they arrived to the city they dropped us at a different station than the one we were supposed to go,in the middle of nowhere and at a dangerous zone at 11 pm, they did not care and we had to get a taxi in order to ge to our houses but the tourists people was freaking out. The bus driver said that it wasnt his problem and left. They did not give me any compensation or a simple courtesy call for the inconvenience. If you are a tourist coming from another country I wouldnt like you to have the same struggle. Please follow my advise DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE AT ALL. ASK YOUR HOTEL OR LOOK FOR A TRAVEL AGENCY THE TRIP TO TIKAL SHOULD NOT COST YOU MORE THAN $50.00 ROUND TRIP or go by plane but it may cost up to $200.00. Bad smell from the bathroom, leaking water from the roof.
Mal servicio los buses se arruinan aunque se pague el servicio "de lujo"; cuando se arruinan en medio de la nada, hacen transferencias a otros buses que son de otra categoria mas barata y te dejan en otras estacion no se hacen responsables de nada y no les importa el servicio, si ves las estrellas tiene 2.5, que buen servicio al cliente tiene 2.5 de 5 estrellas. Al momento de los problemas no te ayudan NO tomes este servicio.

This was the worst bus ride we ever had!
All the bad things we red in the comments before the ride came actually true.
First, our seats were really uncomfortable and undstable, it was moving around. The front windshield was damaged ond the right and the left side. We startet at 9pm from guatemala to flores. At midnight the bus stopped somewhere and people from the market came into the bus and sold their food, they were that loud and had a annoying flashlight so everyone in the bus woke up, and they were in the bus for at least 15min.. so we had to watch for our stuff all the time.
Furthermore, the bus was really cold, without a blanket or something we'd be freezing! The horrible bus toilet odor could we smell all night long! Moreover the wifi didn't work, there were no televisions at all and many things were broken. Most of the other guatemalen passenger in the bus were very unfriendly and spoke loudly in the middle of the night with each other or on the phone!
And last but not least, the bus motor broke down and we were stucked in the middle of nowhere for around 45min, so in the end instead of a 9hour trip we had a horrible 12.5 hour trip!! It wasn't worth the 180Q!response / report this review -

Maya de Oro VIP Class, Guatemala City - Flores, Night Bus (the red one with two floors): When we bought the quite expensive tickets (~40$) we were promised almost bed-like seats, Blankets, Snacks and so on. In the end we went with an old, smelling and disgusting bus where the cables were hanging out of the ceiling and the bathroom had no flushing, water or even light. Nothing of the promised was fulfilled and we just felt cheated. Never ever again!!

Estoy muy molesto con la cia Maya de LATÓN SUCIO. No exagero en la calificación.
Salà jueves 5 de Enero 17, Flores a Guatemala.
-La salida era a las 10:00 am. y salió a las 10:30 am.
-Cristales echos un asco, como de no lavarlos en por lo menos 1 semana. A lo que un empleado me dijo que sólo estaban sucios por fuera!!!!.
-Aire acondicionado, Con un ruido infernal para 10 horas de viaje.
-TV se apagaba cuando querÃa. Al igual el sonido del film.
-Mi asiento no se podÃa poner recto.
-Carga de gasolina, con los pasajeros adentro, cuando lo podian hacer mientras descansabamos.
-En ningún momento me dirigà al conductor en mis quejas y éste constantemente se reÃa de mis comentarios. No tienen verguenza!.
-Antes de subir al autobus, un empleado me dijo que solamente hacÃan una parada. Y bueno, yo perdà la cuenta de las paradas que hicieron (aproximadamente 10 paradas).
Por favor, sean consecuentes con su servicio!, ó cambien su nombre a MAYA de LATÓN SUCIO.response / report this review -

Este transporte.es un verdadero.desastre. llevamos 5 horas imedia en este bus y aun no hemos.llegado ni a cocales suben a personas sin haver pagado.su boleto en la.oficina y los.q.han pagado su boleto los.sientan en bancos.q mal.servicio. y aparte.d todo puncha y el piloto.frescamentw dic q tardaran 25 minutos en cambiar la llanta cuando hemos perdido tanto tiwmpo en cada estacion q tienen

Porque tienen número de teléfono si no van a contestar o van a desviar la llamada No entiendo porque teniendo tantos clientes, su servicio sea de tan mala calidad. El dueño o los dueños deberÃan preocuparse mas por la atención al cliente.. La necesidad es recÃproca, los clientes necesitamos de sus servicios y ustedes de nuestro dinero. Servicio al cliente eso es lo que deben mejorar, es pésimo.Por otro lado aprender a ser puntuales y honrrados
