Fell in love with this hostel the first moment we came in! It’s amazing and it got so much character to it. It got a very chilled atmosphere to it, but during the night a little bar that belongs to the hostel opens and it’s a bit more party going on. Would highly recommend to stay here! It got cute animals walking around too.

I took a tour with Los Amigos. I went on the sunset tour which was actually really cool. However, given that I paid a lot of money for the tour I except better service. We were supposed to leave at 12, but had to wait until 12:30 for the bus to arrive. Then when we were half way to Tikal, we randomly stopped and were just waiting in the bus for 45 minutes. No one told us what was happening or why we were stopping. We found out only after asking that one girl had missed the tour and we had to wait for her to catch up with us. it was not fair for about 15 people to wait for 1 person, whose own fault it was for missing the tour. We didn't end up starting the tour until 3, which was 1.5 hours later than we were supposed to. In terms, of the hostel, the environment was really cool. However, our room had 5 fans, but only one worked so it was really hot and hard to sleep. Also, it was very hard to see at night because the lights were super dim.

Fantastic laid back atmosphere. Great food and late night bar.

A/C in private room leaked water everywhere but staff dropped room rate and provided fan instead.

Recommend getting food at night on the bridge between Flores and Santa Elena - super cheap and tasty. Best street food within 3min of hostel.

This is a really nice place to stay when visiting Tikal. The hostel is centrally located on Flores Island. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The hostel courtyard is filled with plants and is a very nice place to chill. The hostel bar is fully equipped for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The costs are reasonable and the portions are huge. We ended up splitting a few things. The staff here are very friendly and willing to help out with whatever you need. There is also a bar attached that is for guests only. They do this so you can drink and the hostel will be quiet for the other guests. The only downside is that the restaurant feels a little understaffed during the busy diner time. It can take a while to place your order or to even get a drink.

Great hostel with a great vibe, but food and drink were crazy expensive in the restaurant, and even more so in the upper bar, and they had all the bathrooms closed one full day, at the same time. I'd go back again, though. Just would eat and drink at other places on the island. There was a bunch of super cheap places, great quality.

This place is amazing! Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean, there is lots to do at the hostel and friends to meet, it's safe and they make sure it's quiet at night. We loved our stay here and would come back in an instant!

This hostel has a very friendly vibe where you feel that you can just chill out in a hammock. The place is very nicely decorated with paintings all around. The staff is very nice and the maids are very honest. They actually came to me after I checked out because I left shoes and a book in my room. The location is good, in a quiet street in the center of the island of Flores with shops and laundry around. But you have to cross the bridge to Santa Elena if you need a large supermarket. On the other side, the place is quite noisy past midnight due to the in-house bar & restaurant.

One of my top favorite hostels in Guatemala. I ended up spending an entire day to rest here as I had been moving around a lot. It’s so comfortable here, the vibe is perfect if you want to chill. My bed was super comfortable, and I was given a free towel when I asked. The showers are nice and hot. The hostel felt very clean, and the food was delicious! Flores is pretty small so naturally the cheap eats are within walking distance. I booked my Tikal tour through this hostel and had a wonderful tour. I would highly recommend this place.

Hands down the best hostel I’ve stayed in during my two weeks in Guatemala. Place has a great atmosphere, you meet lovely other travellers, there is lots going on yet I had some of the best sleep in a while. I stayed in the main dorm in the hostel and other than the fan to cool the room down I could hear much of the noise of the main hostel areas. Beds are comfortable. Only thing I’d be slightly cautious of is the food in the hostel - I had a burger and salad on two different nights and both really upset my stomach. Croissants are shamelessly overpriced.

Really good hostel and food is really good. Tourist office with tours etc is really handy and cheap. Really wish there was better lighting in the evening in the bar and rooms. I understand the reasons for low lighting, but I struggled to get to and from my room with tripping etc. Also toilets were almost always full. Good all round hostel, super popular and easy to meet people.

They have good environment. It is bit expensive for what they offer. No kitchen and you cannot bring food or drink from outside. This is one of two hostels that are really busy.

This place has a great lounge and a helpful staff. The lounge is kept very natural, with many trees and plants, making a great place to relax and meet people. The rooms are clean, but the beds are terribly uncomfortable. They definitely need to get mattresses where you can't feel each individual spring.

Nice hostel!!! They have great food, lively lounge areas and a very good bar/games room. The dorms were also well layed out but lack Air Conditioning. Which meant having to sleep in very hot and humid rooms at night

Pretty chill place with very comfy clean beds. Menu is good albeit a little pricey but just head to the water for some cheap eats. Hostel tour company was great and well priced. Not sure why all Guatemalan hostels lack kitchens though.

The hostel to stay at if your in Flores. The rooms and food are great you almost don't have to leave the hostel. Expect for after you book a tour to Tikal.

Flores to Belize with San Juan travel, booking through Los Amigos Hostel in Flores.

First, when I purchased my ticket the sales rep at the hostel told me that I would be paying $20 US for a boat to Caye Caulker from Belize City, I purchased the ticket and was handed a voucher for the connecting ferry to find out it was only $7.50. I should have known he was only out to make a quick buck, classic.

Secondly, the shuttle was an hour late. When we got on the shuttle, the driver was going an average speed of about 60km per hour the entire trip. I figured out that one of the gears was not working so he could not shift to go faster and cars were overtaking us the whole way. After we got through the border the driver started having micro sleeps, he was fading in and out and as a result started to drive even slower. He didn't even notice when one of the bags fell off the roof of the bus and passing shuttles were honking and signalling to the roof. Very dangerous!!!

Los amigos you need to do something about these guys, you have such a great hostel and your name does not deserve to be tarnished.

I was torn for a while between whether I liked or didn't mind this place (but never hated) this place is great really.

There is a good choice of food, the relaxation rooms are great, the night life is cordoned off in a separate room so the noise doesn't disturb others and the staff were so friendly and unbelievably accommodating.

The issue I had was with the price (it's much more expensive than other hostels I've stayed at which I've had very similar experiences in comparison with)

I stayed in the deluxe room for Q300 a night which didn't have hot water and it had sort of ventilated (always open) windows so you could hear everything outside crystal clear.

When I swapped to a Q200 a night room, i had the exact same experience pretty much except I had a shared bathroom WITH hot water AND a bigger room ha.

But that was worth every penny Overall, I'm very glad I stayed here and would recommend the private basic room over the deluxe

I feel Los Amigos have got it right with everything they have done. The little things such as actually saying welcome when walking in the door then offering a thorough check in to quickly feel at home goes a long way for me. The ambiance is really nice with a jungle feel inside and a few different zones depending what you feel like. There are plenty of opportunity to meet other travelers regardless if solo or with a group. Although I ate out for much of my stay, the food I did try from the extensive menu was delicious and very well priced. The night lounge is a fantastic idea and a perfect offering for those wanting a late night of drinking without comprising the rest of other guests by fully sound proofing the entire area! Not many hostels get every aspect spot on but Los Amigos comes close. My only further request would be supplying towels to dry hands as it is a big part of hygiene. Also give free water - it's a necessity of life!
