My 4 weeks of Spanish classes at Kamalbe were great! My teacher Lupita was fantastic, the host family Jennifer, Carlos & Andrea were awesome(I would return solely to Xela to visit these guys - Spanish school or not). David is a lovely guy with a good heart that tries to make your time as enjoyable as possible even if he is late at times . Great value for money and funds that go to a great cause, I would happily return here to continue my Spanish learning. I wish google would let you do 1/2 stars as this organisation is a solid 4.5!! With a little more polish(ie. more set scheduled excursions at the beginning of the week rather than the day before and a little more organisation) and help for David this would be a 5 star Spanish school!

Kamalbe has been an amazing experience for me. I discovered the school through a program with my university and after doing some work in the community I came back to take Spanish lessons and Kiche lessons as well. The staff is very friendly and can help you get around the city of Quetzaltenango and Guatemala as well. The teachers are dedicated and work with the students to help the person learning speak more naturally.

I had 3 weeks of lessons with Kamalbe, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a school in Xela! I initially only planned to stay for one week, but I loved the school so much that I stayed for 3. Everyone at the school was so welcoming and friendly, and David, the owner, was very involved and went above and beyond to ensure that the students had a great time. The teaching quality was also excellent! The teaching was one on one and my teacher knew exactly what areas I needed to focus on and adapted her teaching to my learning style very well. With her, I improved even more that I thought I would over 3 weeks.
Kamalbe exceeded expectations and I would love to return to study there in the future!

I spent 3 months at Kamalbe as a volunteer, helping David with the organisation of activities for students and volunteers as well as helping around in general at the Kamalbe School. It was the nicest and most enriching experience in my life. I met wonderdul people ; everyone accepted me with open arms and smiles ! At Kamalbe there are people from all over the world, coming and going every week or month. Some even return ;) everyone is welcome at any time ! When I think about Kamalbe my heart fills with joy and I smile. If you have the chance to go to Guatemala do it and go to Xela, Kamalbe School, ask for David and offer yourself a once in a life time authentique experience.

I can highly recommend the Kamalbe Spanish School. I spent 4 1/2 weeks there and beside great and interesting language classes we went on fieldtrips and events to get to know Guatemalan culture. It was also great to live in a local family to practice outside school and in sum I can say that I really enjoyed my time there. The organizer, David, is really helpful and makes sure you arrive safely/ get to the airport safely. Xela and the surroundings offer many activities (hiking, mayan culture, markets) so it never gets boring and you can easily spent a couple of weeks there. And still you wouldn't have seen everything the region offers.

Very good school and a welcoming team! I really appreciated my stay in Xela. My level in Spanish did improve during the 5 weeks of lessons.
