Refreshing! If you are looking for a special piece of Mayan jade jewelry with modern flair, I highly recommend a visit to Xibalba. My husband and I had looked around Guatemala Antigua to buy Mayan jade to remember our trip. We found most shops in town sell items that are traditional, conventional or folk art. Xibalba had wonderful new designsmodern pieces with clean lines. Even better, they custom modified a piece for me! They made the chain longer and with adjustable lengths. The staff were not only patient, but actually excited to help me recreate the necklace! It was a result that is special that we will remember.
Myself and my friends had an absolute blast making our own jade necklace pendant here!! We each picked out what stone we wanted and what design we wanted and got down yo work! The shop had a guide with over 20 years experience helping us make our designs happen! We cut the stone, shaped the stone and polished the stone with a bit of help. We all had such a great time, a one of a kind experience in Antigua!! I highly recommend trying their unique do-it-yourself jewelry making option. It took about 2 hrs for a group of 4 and was a very reasonable price!
Excellent designer, she sets her store apart from all the others.
I plan to go back and make my own piece of jewelry.
Wonderful handcrafted items can be found here plus a great resource of information. Custom carving available! Oscar carved a beautiful jade turtle for Kevin. They showed us what the process is for cutting, carving and polishing the jade. The entire staff and owner are delightful. We highly recommend stopping for visit to have a look around, perhaps have something carved or buy whatever jade piece calls to you.
This is my favorite place in Antigua. There are lots of jewelry shops, but this one is truly special. They have unique pieces that are modern and tasteful, their prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. At first I thought the stone-cutting class was a bit expensive, but I learned a ton and felt very safe using the equipment. If you have any interest in stone cutting, I highly recommend that you take the class. Then take your time selecting the perfect piece of jewelry (especially after you recognize how much work it is to cut and shape the stones). A must do for those who love jewelry, or rocks, or just hanging around great people.
Such a lovely little store. Very simple and beautiful concept of making jewelry in house; you can even make your own piece daily by appointment. This is where I'm treating myself to a custom pair of earrings for my birthday. It feels so special picking out the stones myself with such friendly people!
I adore this shop. I discovered it on my most recent trip to Antigua, Guatemala. Laura, one of the artists that makes the jewelry by hand, is so kind and sweet. She took the time to listen and custom design several Jade necklaces, bracelets, and earrings for me. She also reworked 4 necklaces I had previously purchased that needed to be lengthened. She even took the time to source the special stained pearls on one of my necklaces. She is a true artist. Her work is of the highest quality and finest detail. Her pieces range classic, to contemporary, to fashion forwardan item for everyone. And if you have a vision in your mind of something else, ask because she may have one made, but it’s tucked away in a drawer waiting for a spot in her beautiful shop. And the shop is so easy to get to as well, near the main park, Plaza Mayor. And last note for English speaking customers, her English is perfect.
