Nice looking church! The semana Santa procession starts here. So it gets super duper crowded with vendors, tourists, locals, tv crews during that week. Great food deals. We got tamales for Q5. And some fancy no-sting honey.
It's a beautiful church right being the Catalina arch and definitely worth the visit. Like the exterior, the inside of the church is also beautiful.
Beautiful church at both day and night.
This is one of those must see places at Antigua, even if you're not a Catholic. There are food vendors outside in the church's park, great place to taste Guatemalan typical cuisine. These vendors are mostly seasonal, and mostly operate in the afternoon and night so don't get disappointed if you don't find them.
Very beautiful church, inside and out. You cannot help by being moved once inside. Architecturally beautiful as well. A must see.
Beautiful and historical Church and convert.
Beautiful veneer and pretty golden altar! Very nice place!
La Merced is a half a block from the famed Arch in Antigua. The Church has an interior that represents much of the history of Antigua and Guatemala.
During Semana Santa which is Good Friday the processions start out of La Merced Church at 4 in the morning and wonders through the streets of Antigua will sunrise.
The church does not have specific tours however you can also walk the grounds of the church.
Iconic landmark due to its yellow, arabesque facade. Worth a visit. The Convent ruins next door have signage in English and is cheaper than other ruins in town.
Take a few minutes and go see this church. Beautiful from the outside. Makes for some great pictures. You dont really need to waste your time going in. The outside facade is what you are there for
Not much to do here, walked in for a few minutes, walked around, that's it. It's not bad, just not spectacular either. Maybe I missed it on a good day, or there's better times to go, but you could skip it and not miss much.
