  Getting there is an adventure. But they hook you up with a knowledgeable guide who takes you up a steep trail to the crater. We did not summit the volcano since it was erupting mildly.

  We went on a trip from Antigua, it's a one and a half hour bus ride each way. We went for the afternoon trip hoping for sunset photos, but the weather was poor and got wet in the rain. However it did clear and we had great views of lava erupting from a subsidiary crater. Cooked marshmallows in a vent and had a great time. The guides were very good and walk up pretty easy for average people. We paid Q65 for our trip plus Q50 park entrance fee

  Relatively easy hike that takes half your day and a view to remenber. Opt for the earliest start (usually 6am) beat the traffic and have pictures without any other photo bombers and be back in the city by midday!

  The trail to the Pacaya Volcano is great, easy to walk up. Main entrance should be better.
