It is safe to ride public transportation to the surrounding towns. Easy and safe to reach Panachacheli or Chichicastenango.

The Antigua bus terminal is at the rear of the Antigua Market. By bus Terminal lets be clear, Chicken Buses heading to all part of Guatemala. Vans that take one to smaller local villages.
This is a safe place to find local transportation. Like heading to Guatemala City for the day is a great experience to ride a Chicken Bus. Ask to be dropped at Walmart.
We take Chicken Buses all the time and do not fear about what you read on-line, they are safe, cheap and a fun experience to add to your bucket list.response / report this review -

The buses are beautiful and photogenic. You have to swing by here if you want to capture piles of them together.
