  A tiny island with an important history. During the Venetian period any ship that arrived at Ithaca woukd be held in quarentine for 40 days on the island before being allowed to enter the port - this was due to health reasons.When the British arrived this island was used as a prison for people with Leprosy. Howeer the prison was severely damaged in the 1953 earthquake and subsiquently demolished.
  
  The Church of the Savior currently stands proud among the pine trees in the port.
