The Papadiamantis Intl .Airport from Skiathos is one of the most spectaculous from the world .It's a huge experience to be pushed away from the jet blast !

Rather famous little airport for the wrong reasons. One end of runway meets public road, and many visitors stand here to get blasted by jets on take-off. The other end is a ski-slope over a small beach with beach bars etc, where the planes pass 20 feet over your head. Terminal building is fine, but gets busy and cramped at tourist times.

The mess! 2 hours for checkin-in. Planes delayed.

Very good airport for plane spotting, not very comfortable, chipped buildings, charming personnel.

The place needs some love and a lick of paint. It's very busy and the queuing system is a bit haphazard. In the departure lounge where you are a captive audience the refreshment counter literally rip the arse out of it. We paid as much for 3 canned drinks, a sandwich and small pot of pringles than you'd expect to pay for a meal out for two.

Skiathos Airport is a small airport, but nothing smaller than other typically Greek island airports. The airport does get rather busy, especially on a Friday, yet the terminal seems to cope with this well due to its not too small size. There is a café before security and in the departure lounge, as well as a small duty free shop. One complaint is that the toilets are in dire need of a refurbishment. However, the ground crew are efficient and allow for fast boarding, with plenty of transport buses which do not get too crammed even on busy flights. Many European return flights necessitate a fuel stop at larger airports such as Thessaloniki or Kavala, which some people find problematic, but domestics and some flights do not require this stop. The scene when landing is amazing, and a visit to the runway threshold to watch departing and landing planes is worth a visit in itself (small walk from bus stop 1 & 2).

This airport may be small but very fun for kids that love planes. Me being a kid, I did find it quite scary upon arrival. Loved the planespotting place you can go. 😄

Worst airport I have ever visited. Toilets are in horrible condition. Very chaotic and unorganized. Poor security checks and lack of flight information.

A very small, rather chaotic airport. Skiathos is a lovely island but the airport is a bit of an experience! The runway is very short, so landings come with what can only be likened to an emergency stop, and the facilities inside the building are minimal to say the least. The departure lounge is tiny and overcrowded, has little or no air conditioning, and you'll most likely have to stand. There's a small duty free shop and a cafe, but if you're leaving the island your best bet is to check in, then wait outside the building, perhaps in the taverna opposite, then head back just before your flight is due to leave. Hopefully they'll improve it one day.
