Breathtaking, definitely worth a visit. Very scenic area. An overnight stay is advised to get the most out of this beautiful mountainous country side.

Beautiful unique place, with Greek Orthodox monasteries build at the top of the rocks. Many hiking paths are available, perfect for rock climbing and outdoor activities in general. The nature is great, also good for families, excellent for all sessions of the year.

Definitely worth a visit, don't hesitate, you have to go there!
When you are there, you will also see a lot of stray CATS, just like everywhere else in Greece. Please give them some WATER. The climate is very dry, even in autumn and winter. Thanks!! :-)

If you are in Athens, and can afford the time and a bit of a drive, this is a great place to see, unlike any other place around Europe. Well worth the drive.
There are about 13 monasteries to see here, couple of them are breathtaking.
Ask your hotel and they can give you a schedule ad yo when you can visit some of them.

The sunset tour of the Meteora monasteries is a must - see in this lifetime. It is unbelievably beautiful and almost other worldly to see these monasteries perched precariously on top of jutting rock formations.

Breathtaking, wonderful, picturesque place. Absolutely "must see" when you are in Greece. Great and comfortable road to all monasteries with lots of parking spaces for stops and taking photos. My suggestion is to check earlier opening days and hours and come before 10 am

    An absolutely stunning place!
Beautiful and well organized for visitors. Breathtaking in every season, highly suggesting however to visit on Greek Good Friday and experience the heart of Christianity among thousands of people!

Highly recommend to visit. I felt myself great here. The beauty of this place cannot be described in words. If you want to visit without haste and excursions you can take a local bus, get to Kalambaka. There is a public bus during the tourist season to Grand Meteora (Monastery of the Transfiguration). A taxi drive at any time of the year cost about 15-20 euros. It is so peaceful and quiet if you arrive after 2-3 p.m.! I walked back by foot - recommend! If you have time you can stay in a hotel nearby. In this case you will have an opportunity to visit the nearby monasteries.

A must see place, all the monasteries are walkable as there is a road connecting them, but you won't be able to visit all of them in one day as some close at 2 pm. Honestly though, to see one or two from inside is enough.

These monasteries are just incredible. The Great Meteoron Monastery has grown enough to house all of its monks and also to serve as a museum. For 3€ you can visit half of the building, 3 or 4 exhibitions inside and wander around the outside patios to be amazed by breathtaking views.
