  Visited this monument twice, in 1973 and 2017. It was imposing then and now ever more symbolic. This area is the cradle of the modern Greek nation’s struggle and birth after so many centuries of occupation. It is a miracle that it ever emerged but it did in 1821 and thereafter from these same hills and small towns. Modern Greece owes a historical debt to those few who dared to dream of building a nation

  Ovaj veličanstven spomenik grčkog naroda lociran je u neposrednoj blizini Manastira u kome su Grci doneli odluku da otpočnu svoju borbu za oslobođenje od turskog ropstva. Lično sam se iznenadio koliko je spomenik zapušten i ne održavan. Prednja konstatacija nije za pohvalu ali se nadam da će se Grčki narod setiti svojih oslobodilaca i u budućnosti bolje čuvati svoje spomenike.

  Αυτό το υπέρτατο μνημείο, των αγωνιστων της επανάστασης του 1821,είναι λίγο περίεργη κατάσταση.. Κάτι που θα έπρεπε να είναι πολυδιαφημισμενο, πανελλαδικά και ειδικά στα Καλάβρυτα, δεν το είδα σχεδόν πουθενά.. Μόνο όταν επισκεφτηκαμε τη μονή Αγίας λαυρας και ρωτήσαμε, τι είναι αυτό απέναντι, μάθαμε τι είναι Το μνημείο είναι σε έναν ψηλό λόφο.. Στρογγυλό.. Και η θεα είναι συγκλονιστικη.. Το ίδιο το μνημείο δε, είναι τεράστιο και σου κόβει την ανάσα με το μεγαλείο του.. Επισκεφτείτε το.
