  Lion had been in prehistoric times the symbol of hero Hercules and father of Macedonia. Since then, Lion was presumed to be the symbol of every royal Macedonian family. This lion is found in Amphipolis and it is the first indicator that the archaeological discovery is connected to Macedonian royal dynasty.
  
  Το λιοντάρι από τα προϊστορικά χρόνια ήδη θεωρούνταν σύμβολο του Ηρακλή, στον οποίο αποδίδεται και η ίδρυση τη Μακεδονίας. Ως εκ τούτου κάθε μακεδονική βασιλική οικογένεια χρησιμοποιούσε το λιοντάρι σαν σύμβολο της. Το συγκεκριμένο εύρημα είναι και η πρώτη ένδειξη πως η ανασκαφή της Αμφίπολης συνδέεται με προσωπικότητες της μακεδονικής δυναστείας.
