Having recently returned for the third time to Diomedes Villas, I can confirm the same unique combination of rustic charm, perceived isolation and convenient location lived on. This set back triplet of detached villas benefits from dramatic views across the south of the Island, including of Vathy. Each villa is thoughtfully landscaped, so as to maintain privacy despite their relatively close proximity. In a cumulative 5 weeks of staying here I have only ever seen the cars of the other guests. The villas are all accessed via the same gated driveway and are maintained by the small family owners, who speak conversational English. The villas have excellent specifications including dedicated air conditioning in ever room that isn't a bathroom. A swimming pool, hammocks and sun loungers with parasols. Mod cons include fridge/freezer, oven, microwave and washing machine. There is also wi fi but it is slow and difficult to pick up from the villa we stayed in. The villas are a 5 minute drive from Vathy, the central hub of Ithaca. This makes shopping and day tripping extremely convenient and also means evening meals out are easy and never short of options. Ithaca is naturally more difficult to reach and is enjoyed by visitors who are looking to wander off the beaten track without stumbling too far. Diomedes Villas is a perfect complement to this being both charmingly Greek but also close to the major town of Ithaca, if you experience the urge for civilisation and fantastic seafood.
