The National, one of a dozen cocktails served at Cubana, sets the tone for the entire evening: it’s sweet, rich, vibrant and a little intoxicating — a real party. It and other cocktails introduce the traditional Cuban dishes that follow.

Before you do, however, pause to take in the décor. The front room is warm and intimate, but the two garden areas beyond it, one lighted by multi colored chandeliers and the other decorated with Panama huts, resonate with the glamour of 1950s Havana night life. The walls in the garden area are made from real stone , and they radiate a flattering glow; wherever you sit outside the Cubana, you’ll look good.
