Olympia is a must visit site. It’s comprised of the main archeological area and two separate museums.

Don’t feel like you have to visit with a huge tourist group, we didn’t. We drove and parked at the location and visited at our leisure. The parking was free and the entrance wasn’t expensive. Save some dollars and enjoy the country drive. The roads to get here are narrow though, expect to see full sized tourist busses, cars, trucks, RVs, and maybe even some sheep on the road. It is paved though.

It’s a large area and it’s hot! They gave us free water twice, but don’t worry, there are loads of trees around to get shade.

I’d highly suggest visiting the two museums first to get more background on the actual site, we didn’t do this and it was a missed opportunity. However, the museums are fantastic and it’s impressive how long they have been around, the items inside are spectacular too.

A unique place. The whole area is quite big and you need plenty of time to explore it. Take some water with you especially if you go during the summer months. Hire a tour guide if you want to learn the glorious history of ancient Olympia, you will enjoy much more your visit. Highly recommended.

Really interesting site, full of historical information. It is truly humbling to be part of such an ancient venue, the very cradle of Western Civilization. On a more practical side, a few observations. We are visiting in early fall, and it is still hot in mid September. There is a limited amount of shade, so sun protection is a must. Hydration is also important: carry water. The terrain is varied, with gravel walks (my wife wore sandals, and yes, the Greeks had a word for the annoying little stones that get in your sandals: scruples), there is cobblestone and occasionally rutted paths. Good footwear is a must. The area is hilly, with quite a few steps. I admire those who got around in wheelchairs and walking devices like canes and walkers. Dedication is to be admired, but preparation is a must. Truly worth seeing, the site at Mount Olympus demands a bit of planning to insure a safe and pleasant visit.

Very clean and beautiful park, but make sure you get a tour guide because there are not a lot of signs and you wont know what anything is without one.

Thrill to see. There isn't much to guide you around the site or explain what you are seeing so I would hire a guide or bring a guidebook if you would like to know what you are looking at or where to go. Has a great museum, but again, the explanations in English are somewhat sparse. Bring plenty of water there isn't much to be found near the site

Really badly piled rubble. I appreciate the archaeological effort put into unearthing and piling back the columns and tiles, but the results are far from impressive. Greece has older and better conserved ruins all over the place.

Completely a must see. Sadly, little is standing still, it looks like someone dumped a bunch of giant stone Legos. You need to see it to appreciate, and be where the original Olympic games where held. Sep17: 12 euro entrance seems steep.

I love it. It is sunny and hot but you cannot visit the area there without visiting the place where the Olympic Games were born. Clear explanation of every site, from the signs so that you want need a guide

Today there's nothing left of what was here thousands of years ago. Due to the poor materials used to build everything (limestone) even the ruins are small and unimpressive. You just have to imagine what it once was and try to soak in all the history contained in the remains of the impressive stadium and their gymnasiums. I would recommend the guided tour of the area if you're considering visiting the site.

Athens and Rome had far more amazing and impressive ruins. England ruins puts this to shame. If you have nothing else to compare you would be impressed. I've seen so many and this is the only one I did not like. It's so far away and time consuming when you could enjoy spending more time else where. Now if you have a lot of time, of course visit but not if your thinking of wanting to do something else or spend extra time at a place you love. If your wanting to see a place where the first Olympics was held then go to any empty field and you'll capture the same experience.

Greek for lovers.
Upon a good bicycle tour we hit that place.
We cannot always bike.
So we made something good in terms of culture.
The city is nearby.
We enjoyed the good Local food and drinks.
Nice environment.
Recommended for real Greek lovers.
Worse to go!
