  To celebrate earth day a campaign was launched to protect our parks by American Corner Banjul, Gambian Marine & Environmental Conservation Initiative (GMECI) and Greenups Gambia. The Abuko Nature Reserve use to be the best place to visit when I was young during school tours and this is not happening like before and we wanted to improve things by entrance areas cleaned and attractive.
  Abuko Nature Reserve is the most serene place in The Gambia filled with birds, monkeys and many different tamed animals. It's a long walk with the most beautiful trees and scenes you can experience in The Gambia. My brothers were so excited when I went with them and I can't wait to go back again.

  Really enjoyed this trip saw some lovely birds, monkeys, and crocodiles. There are also some great shaped termite mounds

  Small reserve, rather tatty. The Croc pool has hides for watching birds. And you might see a Croc. Guide essential to make sense of the greenery.

  I am currently working for Department of Parks and Wildlife Management as Senior Officer. I am the head of Environmental Education Unit, National Focal Point for Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, National Focal Point for Protected Areas (PoWPA), and Project Coordinators of UNDP/GEF Funded 'Protected Area Network and Community Livelihood Project.
  
  I am the President of Sahel Wetlands Concern, an Environmental Organization involving in biodiversity conservation, poverty reduction, sustainable land management and building community resilience to climate change. The organization is currently establishing a Bioclimate Education and Research Center in Dumbuto Village, Kiang West, The Gambia.
  
  I am besides an awarded Watson International Scholar of Environment (WISE Fellow 2009), Brown University, Providence, RI USA.

  A great place for Bird watching - the so called animal orphanage is third rate zoo where a small amount captive animals and birds are kept in really appalling conditions.

  Loved this place.. Eagle heights nature reserve is here too which was fantastic! I wonder if Bubu's Lion reserve is finished yet :) The eagle show was excellent too

  Please dont expect to see different animals in this nature reserve. It has limited choices of wildlife .

  The orphenage is sad to See The animals are kept in a way which should make every tourist cry. The forest in the Park is beautiful to see.
  35dalasi (70€ cent) for the Entry is realy cheap.. So please just close the orphenage and it would be a 5star rating.
