Great place. You will need a few days to enjoy all it has to offer Camping, trail hikes, bird watching, canoe rides on the black Volta to view hippos and other wildlifeand many more. The best part is that it's a local initiative and all proceeds go to developing the community. We saw schools, water treatment plants and energy generating plants all funded by the sanctuary. Any and all support given them is truly in a good cause.

Good place to spot hippos. As with hippos, you cannot get too close and it makes the journey seem not worthwhile in the hot exposure to sun on the Black Volta without good closeup to the hippos

Though sad that we couldn't get really close to the hippos as much as I would want to, it was a fun a great experience. Best to go with sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and protective clothing so you don't suffer from sunburn.

Simple nice attractions. Setup by the local village's. Hippos are mainly under water and you see them from far. The main attraction are the enthusiastic people and the boat trip it self.

An extremely well organised and well maintained eco tourism project. The environment is very friendly and relaxing. The service is very quick and efficient. Special thanks to Idris, our volunteer guide, who was helpful and available at a minute's notice anywhere we fancied going or staying. The place has a great potential too and any investment, even an insignificant one, may bring huge improvement and more custom.

The place is amazing especially the the big lake and hippopotamus. Hippo sanctuary I cannot stop going there..that's the skulls of hippopotamus being kept for so many years..

The real Africa. Not much of a touristy feel to it. The people running it are knowledgeable and polite, if you can find them.

This is one of the few places in the Wa West district where you will see live Hippopotamus and different species of birds.
