The food did not taste good, the place was dirty. Elodie, the owner of he Green Ranch, was very unfriendly to us.

Hotel with nice view and strange atmosphere. The Hotel is directly built at the holy lake of the Ashanti tribe where the spirits of the death wait to enter the ghost world. Therefor it is forbidden to go with a steal boat inside of the lake. Also the natives do not come to close to the lake since many mysterious accidents happened - at least if you believe the taxi driver and people on the way. Somehow the food and service at the hotel itself was completing the picture in a surrealistic way. So I can give only two stars…

As an African from oversea I felt irritated and sad at the same time. Irritated because it seems that the manager of the hotel, a Swiss Lady does not give a dam about changing the situation. My recommendation to ride up on the road where the Africans are riding and driving was just ignored. But even sadder I feel because of my own people. It seems that the Hotel is protected by corrupted local official administration. Why we are not able to protect at least the fragments of our culture and pay at least to our own people the respect that is needed. In Europe nobody would get the idea to ride with a bunch of people e.g. through the walking area of the hide park. Yes, maybe the Bosomtwe lake is not that much famous - but for our ancestors and us Ashanti people this lake has the same importance as The Hide park or the St. Pauls Cathedral. So it is on us to stand up and protect our Culture.

Beautiful views and lovely meals. One of the best meals I've had in Ghana, and completely vegetarian. Great place to stay over or simply relax for an afternoon. Best to call ahead to have them prepare you a meal.

Amazing place!! The only complaint is that the bathrooms are a little less than completely comfortable to use (large, deep holes in the ground saw a lizard scurry into one and you sit on it) However the owners are super nice and warm, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, the horseback rides are really pleasant and relaxing, the food is great, the dorm area is comfortable and nice, there are no mosquitos at all (!!) because of the indigenous trees around and it's just all so enjoyable.
Can't recommend Green Ranch enough as a place to relax and enjoy a beautiful environment.response / report this review -

Dear Judy,
We cannot possibly thank you for this absolutely horrible painting of our son that you sent to all the worldwide Google readers.
What about the horse-riding ? The way we keep our beloved horses ? The rooms ? The vegetarian food that you came for ? In short, what about our services and activities ?
And in between the lines of your review, are you trying to say that due to our son's misbehaviour, we all at the Green Ranch must be cruel and our animal-friendly orientation is a scam ?
Please this is a bit extreme from 2 visitors who may have spent a maximum of 1 hour here and is clearly a personal revenge for your broken glasses that we would have surely paid to repair if only we had known (just like we do when a horse breaks a car mirror or a worker breaks a guest's belonging)
You never tried to call on us, my wife was right in the kitchen when you urged to leave, asking the cook to pack the freshly plate-served food into take-away boxes. She even thought there was a problem with the food but the cook said you were in a hurry to leave.
As far as we can remember, you and your friend arrived in a pretty strange way that day, not greeting us but asking if you could have some food. That alone showed you may have had a bad morning already.
(FYI in Africa, to not greet is a form of big disrespect)
As for lil Simeon bullying the baby cats, it s true he s too hard with them, specially when he lacks of attention or receives negative one which was exactly the case as per your description.
Our big mistake though, as we are supposed to have our children 'under our own supervision' and not under our guests'
I am sincerely sorry if he shocked you.
But hey Judy, he is just 5 I m quite sure he is not fully aware of all his acts and attitude.
Therefore we sincerely apologise for the horrible atmosphere you got at the Green Ranch that day in December during the 1 hour that you spent on our breathtaking-view terrasse, in front and in the middle of Beautiful Mother Earth, which to us leaves a strong and bitter feeling of punishment for being too wild for you guys :-Dresponse / report this review -

I, the owner and founder of the Green Ranch would like to let all the readers know that unlike what Mr Rainer Hackel wrote (he s our neighbour), we do have all the registrations and license to operate our equestrian tourism activity and that the horse manure left behind is a great organic fertilizer (vs the terrible chemicals sprayed on land and near the lake :-(
Please do come n see how we live at peace here and in love with all our neighbouring communities which we support massively in providing decently-paid work to some of their members. Ask our staff for instance how long they have been working here for and that alone will say all.

We went to Green Ranch to get some vegetarian lunch, but were very disappointed.
The son of the owners came to our table and started playing around with my glasses, I had left next to my plate. I asked him to stop but he ignored me. A 'waitress' finally took them from him without even bothering to apologise and I was a little bit angry when later in the house, realising they were broken.
When the child took a baby cat, squeezed it, pushed it and finally tossed it against the railing so it almost fell 3-4 meters, I lost my appetite. We took the cat to us to protect it, and the child threw some stones in our direction, that's when we decided to leave without having eaten half of the food.
They only serve vegetarian food, present themselves as so animal-friendly, so it was disturbing to see how cruelly the owner's child was treating that cat, without any consequences or anyone saying something about it. I would have loved to speak to the owner about it in person, but she wasn't around anymore.
