Located on the Air Force base about a fifteen minute drive north of Tamale. It’s actually closer to Savelugu.
It’s a small airport but always clean and the staff are super nice. There’s a small food bar with drinks and snacks. You can also order takeaway jolof rice for about 10GHS.
Biggest frustration is baggage claim for arrivals. Poor building design has the conveyer belt turning a corner at a right angle so passengers are forced to push luggage along.response / report this review -

Small, efficient and neat. However, like all airports in Ghana, this place is a nightmare for physically-challenged passengers. One has to walk to the tarmac and mount stairs before boarding

Well functioning small airport. Had my bags in 10 minutes only because another plane landed right before us. Friendly, efficient staff.

Small airports are always quicker to get in and out of. Friendly staff and clean environs makes trips from this airport pleasant.
Announcements made on the PA system are loud enough for those in the car park to hear so you don't miss anything.
Lovely waiting lounge area with air-conditioning and power outlets for your laptop.
For newcomers, taxis will hit you with a HEAVY bill to give you a ride into Tamale downtown. It's a cartel.
ATM on site for cash transactions or withdrawals. A local clothing shop and a roadside food vendor will give you reason to spend.response / report this review -

Didn't run into any problems on this airport for our flight to Accra. Staff was helpful and friendly and everything went smoothly.

Terrible and unprofessional behavior by Ghana airport staff. Chatting and shouting all over the place. Very disgraceful. I would have rated 0 if that was possible
