The Dairy’s ‘Statement of Purpose’ is to provide a modern processing unit for the local dairy industry, that supplies a range of high quality milk and milk-products for local and export markets.
The company is owned and operated by the States of Guernsey and has 37 employees with an annual turnover in excess of £6 million. Guernsey Dairy is a Trading Asset of the Sates of Guernsey. All milk produced on the island is collected and processed by the Guernsey Dairy and distributed across the island by a network of small independent businesses that form the Guernsey Milk Retailers Association (GMRA).
Our island is famous for the Guernsey cow breed, which produces some of the best milk in the world regarding beta-carotene and omega 3 and 6 content and is renowned within the dairy farming industry across the world as being a high-yielder of golden coloured milk whilst maintaining a docile and friendly temperament.
We strive to maintain high standards in all our products and produce ranges of milk, cheese, butter, cream and ice-cream.

Looking for something to do tomorrow? Why not head down to the annual Royal Show at Saumarez Park hosted by the @RoyalGuernseyAgricultural&HorticulturalSociety.
This is an event we have supported for many years and is a great chance to see upfront some of our farmer’s finest ‘Guernseys’ and other livestock. The judges, some of whom are coming over from Sark, look specifically at “Conformation” in the cattle, horses and sheep entrants. For novices this is all to do with the quality of the skeletal and muscular structure of the animal. Judging takes place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Wishing all entrants the best of luck.
Over 700 milk crates have been returned following our community appeal last month. However, there are still quite a few missing. If anyone still has any of our blue and orange crates please can you pop them back to the Dairy leaving them on the motorbike park just to the left of the entrance. Thank you.
We came across these two old photos of our milk churns. Churns are still used on farms and by the Dairy every day.
In the past, milk was collected from farms and delivered to the Dairy in churns where it was weighed and measured out.
