Amazing village on the side of the mountain! Well worth the trip to anyone visiting or local to Georgia! Places to stay nearby and could easily spend a few hours exploring the caves!

Ancient cave Monastery.. Numerous private vestibules for meditative monks Requires a fair bit of walking and climbing.. Fortunately, there's a freshly pressed pomegranate drinks seller at the bottom complex

impressive caves they built there. It's a good time to walk around this old place. Don't miss to get something to eat and drink afterwards on the opposite side of the river. I really enjoyed both.

The place is stunning. Amazing views of the mountains and river. The caves and their history is really interesting.
To move around the caves there are many stairs and tunnels (maybe not suitable for small children or elderly people).
There's is a nice restaurant close to the caves. You can enjoy good Georgian food by the river.

The great place to see the medieval city in rock, the rock tipy is a sandstone. There are the local guides and also it is possible to rent a audio guide for 15 GEL, so this price was 5 month ago 😉

Breathtaking. One would be amazed at how our ancestors were able to do this with bare hands! There are a lot of hidden tunnels - make sure you don't miss them. one is behind the monastery and the other leading to Tamar's room :)

It is probably the best cave monastery in Georgia. Must see and highly recommended.

This place is exceptional and I think is a must in Georgia. I know there are several church cave sites in Georgia, with an easier access, but this is the largest, most valuable and I believe also the most remarkable.

Something unbelievably amazing! Huge cave city, with palaces, living houses, vine cellars, streets, monasteries, wall paintings and tunnels. The priceless architectural complex from 12th century!

The Vardzia cave complex is a long trek from Tbilisi, but it's worth it (the journey itself offers up some splendid scenery, so it's not like you're wasting your time). There's plenty to explore, but a good guide is vital if you want to make the most of the experience.

Very nice and unique place. Not as impressive as what you see in Cappadocia, but worth a visit !

Amazing!! Truly remarkable place that is a must see in this part of Georgia. If you don't speak Georgian or Russian, you might benefit more from an audio guide than hiring one of the local guides. I'd also recommend paying the 1 GEL to take the minibus to the topit's quite the hike.

Very interesting site. In spite of hot weather we have managed to see many interesting spots in what used to be a secret underground city. recommendable.
