    Woo hoo 🙋‍♀

Day three and another reason why volunteering is something you should explore:

    Purpose and confidence 😍

    ...

Sometimes when you are at university you can feel a little bit ‘lost’ especially if you are away from home. By volunteering you can build a strong network of people around you who can be a type of support, this will help with your health and wellbeing. Volunteering fills your time, gives you a sense of purpose and it can also help build self-confidence, doing something out of your comfort zone, with new people and in a new environment. It won’t feel like work, it will be more like a social circle, where you can laugh and learn.

Our UNMISSABLE OPPORTUNITY of the day!!!! 💪

We’ve managed to secure an opportunity for all Sunderland University students.

'Show Your Mussel’ (the Mussel Club and Jak HQ’s huge annual business expo), is being held on June 13th at the Stadium of Light… and they’re looking for volunteers.

Get your foot in the door of your dream career before you’ve even graduated, by meeting and chatting with hundreds of businesses from a range of different sectors.

There are seminars running throughout the day which you will have FULL access to as a volunteer. Learn how to get ‘rich’ in 18 months with The Hand Dyed Shoe Co’s Simon Bourne, and absorb tips and tricks from Gary Lumby - the man who was presented with an MBE by Prince Charles in recognition of his services to the finance industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity for all students, regardless of which year or faculty you’re in. Gain an abundance of valuable skills, build new relationships, and secure yourself a GLOWING RECOMMENDATION as you do so.

    Email futuresopportunities@sunderland.ac.uk to apply!

Already set on postgraduate study as your next step? It’s good to remember you'll be entering a higher level of study, and with that a bigger challenge.

Use the summer for a break and to consider your Study/Work/Life balance. ☯️

Most Masters courses last for 12 months (full-time) or two years (part-time). Courses include Masters of... 🎨 Arts (MA) ⚛️ Science (MSc) 🎓 Education (MEd) ⚙️ Engineering (MEng)... 🎵 Music (MMus) 📈 Business Administration (MBA) 🔎 Research (MRes)

Postgraduate Certificates and Diplomas are likely to last 9 months (full-time) and are usually vocational, providing qualifications you need to get into a job. For example; Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) to #getintoteaching.

Professional Qualifications relate to a particular profession, and are recognised and awarded by the relevant professional bodies. 👔 For example; the National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ), professional marketing qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
