Foundation level and First year motorsport degree students at UCLan (University of Central Lancashire) are invited to join the university's in-house Club Formula Ford 1600 race team through participation in the extra-curricular motorsport club. Founded in 2000, the team won their class in the North West Formula Ford Championship in 2001 with Guarin Simpson, the Formula Ford Festival in 2002 with Dave Fricker and 2006 with Noel Dunne, and their first outright championship with John Farrell in 2010 when he won the Northern Pre90 Championship.
