  As first time visitors to the island, we chose to dine at La Barca restuarant as it had an extensive seafood menu. We wish we hadn't bothered. The service was extremely poor. After being seated at our table for 20 minutes without any service, we had to approach a waiter and ask if we could order something to drink. (The restaurant was moderately busy, but the waiter seemed more intent on re-laying vacant tables rather than serve existing customers).
  When the food finally arrived, the order was incorrect and incomplete. What was served was of average quality and certainly didn't warrant the price.
  When we received the bill it included two items that we had not received - one had failed to materialise, the other had never been requested by us. The same waiter (owner?) argued with us over this, but then agreed to remove the offending phantom items. No apology was made.
  Even paying our bill served to be an ordeal. After waiting some time, we eventually went up to the bar and interupted the same waiter/owner who was watching TV.
  With so many restaurants vying for business in this part of St Aubins, the staff of La Barca should try harded if they want to retain business in future.
