On August 4th 1968, a young Tom was photographed by his father next to 8F No. 48773 prior to the locomotive hauling its last train for British Railways.
50 years later, Tom was reunited with the now preserved No. 48773 at the Severn Valley Railway
We had a great day on Saturday reminiscing about the Last Days of Steam!

The ceremonial recreation of the cleaning of Black 5 No. 45110 has begun!
The Master Neverers Association (MNA) was well known for its cleaning exploits between 1965 and 1968, when hundreds of locomotives received MNA attention, including No. 45110 ahead of its famous appearance on the last steam hauled train on British Railways.
Some of the original 'Master Neverers' are in attendance today; such wonderful memories!
