If you like iffy service, great. If you like flat scones, great. If you like 60 yr old music going round and round, great. Sea view , great.
Came here for a meal today. Everything I requested they had "run out of". No chowder, no Thai fish cakes, no seafood crumble. (They had not been open 1 hour) My daughter ordered fish and chips which looked and tasted like frozen chips the fish was lacking in any flavour. The curry sauce was obviously made from a packet. Having had the fish and chips before and not being impressed I opted to just have a cup of tea.
On the plus side my husband had the smokie which he said was lovely. I'm sorry but we used to love this place whilst on holiday however we will not be back. Much better quality found elsewhere.
I’ve been to 55 countless time. Never been disappointed. I love that you can have something a little more adventurous than just “fish and chips” The Sea food chowder is amazing! Perfect for any fish face 😉
We went twice and found the staff extremely friendly, polite and helpful. First time I had fruit scone, cream, jam and earl grey tea. My partner had the hot chocolate pudding. Was very enjoyable. Breath-taking view. Second time we had the £5 Friday deal. Fish, chips, mushy peas, slice of bread and butter and a pot of tea. Slight wait as they had only just opened. But very hot tasty food. Will go again next time we are in Scarborough.
I highly recommend this place.
On holiday in Scarborough looking for somewhere offering more than just fish and chips and also where we could be with our 2 well behaved collie dogs. This place allows dogs in the lounge area - very spacious, they provided a water bowl without asking and also 2 doggy biscuits! The food - Chilli for hubby with chips, nachos and dip and a chicken, leek and ham pie with mash and veg for me; were delicious! Will be back next visit.
Very very good value 4 2 course meals a bottle of red wine and a pot of tea for £55
Massive portions
Lovley food
The dogs loved it with a bowl of water for them

Just visited restaurant 55. A group of 3 people made a complaint about the food as we were looking to order. Then another family also complained. Restaurant was not very full but service quite slow so we decided on balance to try another place.
On leaving the family were explaining to the chef about some of the food and we were shocked at the level of swearing and abuse given to this family - with children present. He told them to 'F' off.
Shocked.
Food okay, shouldn't be given dog friendly status, unless your happy to be sat in the foyer in the draught and away from the views.Wouldnt go again.
Nice views if you sit by the windows overlooking the South Bay. Food is generally OK but nothing special. Reasonable prices.
Beautiful fish and chips. Crisp batter and a decent size fish for a regular. Had cheesy garlic bread which came with a nice salad garnish and it wasn't oily either. Chips nice and crisp. The waitress was fine and pleasant. Fab view of the bay and new rnli building. Great value for money.
Brilliant all round. I've never been anywhere where they have been so good with the kids (ones just 2 and the other is 8months) hubby and I were impressed with the quick assistance with high chairs and friendly service throughout. Food was good too! The goody bags for the kids made my toddlers day. Will definitely be visiting again.
Brilliant restaurant nice and friendly staff. Great views of the sea and beach. Amazing food. Can't wait to go back.
