    On the 9th May 2017 whilst starting a short break in Cumbria, I arrived at my caravan site in Kendal, paid my fees returned to the car which refused to start after a trouble free journey. Greenflag attended and diagnosed a Cam Position Sensor was at fault. They could not transport it to their garage for repair. So I rang Kentdale Motors a main LR dealer. in Kendal whom I had dealt with before. Joanne on the reception was very pleasant, however when put through to service I explained my problem, told them the car was obstructing the car park I could not move it as it was an automatic. They said we are far to busy to help you but can book you in for the 24th May.

    Did they really expect me to leave the car there, Yes Greenflag was happy to return the car and caravan home or to a garage for me, but this sensor replacement is a half hour job, could the main dealer have helped more? Anyway after ringing around I found a small family garage who although busy asked "I get the vesicle to them and they could see what they could do" it was with with them overnight and at 11am next day I was able to pick the car up and continue my holiday. What have I learnt well first have Greenflag to help, That main dealers are interested in selling cars, and providing service whilst the warranty covers the repair. Importantly its the small garage that provides a service and at a price that is value for money. Kentdale I would not consider giving any business to them in the future.

    Shocking service, or should I say lack of..

    Discovery Sport HSE Lux, bought brand new from Kentdale & the sales guys were fantastic. It's just when things go wrong, the service team (or lack of service team) are poor at best..

    The car was booked in for some "minor" issues, which are known DS faults, so the car was collected & taken in for repairs, the annoying one being a rattle in the dash, which drives you daft..

    The car returned, but guess what, the rattle was even worse..

    We rang to get it sorted, but had noticed a rear brake wasn't working properly & the air con appeared to not be working ..

    The car was picked up "again" to go in for the repairs.. Rattle sorted, brake repaired, air con, "not a warranty issue" so we get billed for it..

    Allegedly a stone had damaged it, so it was our fault..

    Needless to say, they can't explain how "the best 4x4 by far", with a protective cover over the air con, manages to be punctured by a stone (If that's what really happened)??

    If LR designers think that they need to put a cover over this part, to protect it from the elements, how come it failed, but isn't a warranty issue??

    It appears it's a million to one & we were unlucky.. "No sir, it's not a design fault" so you'd better pay up..

    The real kick in the teeth, was when the car was returned we noticed it came back with a lovely kerbed alloy... Go's in perfect, comes back kerbed..

    Moral of the story, find a LR dealer who cares about customer service "after" you've parted with your money, because it appears once they've got your money, they lose interest fast..

    Quote "It cannot be obstructed by a cover as it needs a direct flow of air to actually work. There is a grille in front of it. Unfortunately debris can come through any grille and did in this case damage the condenser unit which is not a warranty item."

    Surely If there was a "mesh grill" placed over the condenser unit, this would allow sufficient airflow over this part & also protect it from stone damage??

    Maybe a "simple" change in design will prevent this from happening in the future??

    Most Jaguar dealerships offer a 3 plus service package for cars over 3 years old. I asked Kentdale for this package but they do not support this promotion. Charge for service at Kentdale is £569, take it or leave it! Contacted Preston Jaguar and car serviced same as Kentdale but at £299. Car serviced while you wait or courtesy car offered. That is almost half the price. Agreed it is a 70 mile longer round trip for me but worth it for saving £270. I hate getting ripped off! I will keep this car for 2/3 years so my business is going to Preston and not the local garage. Then again it will save me losing nearly a grand over that time

    Also had warranty work done at Kentdale. The problem reappeared and I had the inconvenience of taking the car back in again for another 2 days.
