Premier staff is nice and helpful. Got my account open fast and get all my question explained well. Thank you.

They didn't give me an account because they disliked the quality of the paper in my boss' letter. What????

I opened a bank account with HSBC over the phone and was asked to go to a branch to verify my documents. Due to a time crunch, I was advised to just do a walk-in at this branch. I was served by Sarah Stevenson and she did a fantastic job explaining all the details and getting the job done. Good experience.

Weirdly automated branch with all basic services provided via self-service machines. Some staff on hand to help, but be prepared to do most of it yourself.

Worst bank service ever in Edinburgh. Been there 5 times, never once a good experience. Staff doesn't help much in anything.

I've been a business banking customer here for years - everything is fine unless you need to speak to them about anything. Then it's like trying wrangle an invitation to a meeting of the secretive Bilderberg Group. I don't know why they bother having people in the branch - they never speak to anybody.

This bank orientated toward online / international banking, so if you're looking for lots of branches and old fashioned one on one customer service, go elsewhere. If you want great international banking, linking accounts in different countries, free international transactions, and great online facilities, HSBC is the place. You don't go to McDonalds if you want KFC, right?
Also, Stefan Kerins, who seems to have a few neg reviews, looked after me - I found him to be polite, professional and easy to get along with, albeit a little over worried / stressed Id be worried about the time it took to open an account (I was there about 20 mins - I didn't care because I didn't feel he was wasting my time at any point) ... but then with these reviews, I would be too. Give him a break.

Was treated horribly by staff member Stefan Kerins, and my visit did not satisfy the reasons I had went in. This individual was obnoxious, rude, argumentative and did not have a single clue about the insurance benefits that HSBC current account offers. Absolute waste of time and I will never visit this branch again, even thinking about switching banks too as I am disbelief they can employee people such as that with no communication or customer service skills whatsoever

Called about opening an account, had an appointment within 5 days, the appointment went well (they specified exactly which documents were necessary) and the account was open. Minus one star, because then they sent me the card and PIN to my address outside of UK instead of to my UK address - that however was resolved with a phone call and another five day wait. Both times I went there the staff was nice, qualified and helpful. Would recommend.
