I speak with GP's in our area regularly who would love a Physio to be in their waiting rooms to manage their back pain patients.

So why is it difficult for your GP to manage back pain? Time is a huge factor as is specialism.

GP's are so busy that umfortunately they aren't given the necessary time it takes to understand the history of someone with back issues.

    ...

Solving back pain is ALWAYS a learning process - this takes time. As physios we are constantly educating and promoting positive activities and working towards established patient led Goals. To do this takes time!

Most people with ongoing back pain have a lot of fear avoidance where the person simply doesn't do a certain "normal" activity anymore as they fear it may hurt or damage their Back. To discuss these avoidance factors and help proactively change the person's approach to how they look after their back takes ..... you guessed it.. Time!

In addition to all this wonderful stuff we also spend time helping to loosen tight muscles, stiff joints, re-learn normal movements and release restricted or irritated nerves.

Our physios constantly update training and take courses from the leading experts in the management of back pain.

Our GP's unfortunately have their hands tied by restricted appointment times but also GP's don't tend to specialise in managing back pain. Generic advice is often given to patients which is mostly helpful but not the gold standard compared to a specific approach tailored to an individual.

We love our GP's and all they do, so instead of picking up the phone and waiting for a GP appointment about your back, choose Physio instead for a pro-active and effective way of managing back pain. #FreeTheGP!

We LOVE the The International North West 200! Feel lucky to have worked with some of the worlds best racers both at Causeway Physio, Michael Rutter, Lee Johnston and also treating William Dunlop and Connor Cummins at the Team Motorhomes @ NW200 Blackbridge! These guys are hard as nails and true proof of how pain is something that can be worked through and never letting it hold you back. Great to be a part of it and here's to a great weekend of racing!!
