Oh how hate contacting this practice the receptionists are very rude and unhelpful most of the time when you speak to them and as I have complaints that need regular monitoring I have to contact them regularly. However the final straw was last week. Sadly my husband passed away suddenly two weeks ago, when i rang to inform them their attitude overwhelmed me, I was upset, angry and shocked at there rudeness, feel that I never can attend this practice again. On being told that I needed to inform them of my husbands passing the woman I was speaking to said " ok what's his name, what's his date of birth, hold the line" after a few minutes she came back asking "when and where hold the line" couple of seconds later returned and said "ok then" and promptly put down the phone. What a lovely caring practice this is, a please accept our condolences or I am very sorry to hear this would of been something but to say nothing is disgraceful .

Castlecroft Medical Practice is without doubt the best medical practice I have ever experienced. Very professional, caring and knowledgable. The reception staff are always extremely helpful and in my opinion the overall experience is outstanding. I really can not understand some of the negative reviews made previously. These can not be helpful to the Doctors and the rest of the team, who are clearly working together to provide excellent medical care.

I've seen a fair few doctors and for the most part they have been very professional and knowledgeable, however this establishment is seriously lacking in another crucial area. The receptionists are quite clearly underqualified. As someone who struggles with anxiety, and needs regular doctor's appointments, I find myself dreading any necessary communication with the staff. Getting an appointment within certain time frames to renew my prescription is absolutely crucial, the receptionists somehow find a way to make this absolutely impossible.

I've usually had a good experience when visiting the GP surgery, until this week. I saw a Dr I had not seen before, who was very patronising and arrogant in her manner towards myself; although I do not feel this was intentional, I did leave the surgery very upset. I didn't feel like the GP took my concerns seriously, maybe due to me being young (24) and asked if I had done any reading about my concern, after I shared I had this problem from the age of 14- I felt that was very undermining. After sharing my concerns, I was asked, "and what do you hope for me to be able to do today?", whilst displaying very negative body language. As I am not a medical professional I explained my concerns again, I then shared My mother was an AMG and had told me to book an appointment due to my concerns. It appeared that only then did she take me seriously and acted upon my medical need. My formal complaint shall be going in today.

Before you can get an appointment with a doctor or nurse you have to run the gauntlet of reception staff/people who answer the phones and make the decision as to whether or not your symptoms warrant one. I am not one to lie, however, to get an appointment you feel like you have to say it's an emergency and can't be entirely truthful. Yesterday I gave a truthful account of my symptoms and the receptionist told me to just monitor the pain and not to come in. She also told me to read information on the NHS website isn't a good thing to do. In my opinion, this sort of decision making and advice should only come from someone who is medically trained. The medical staff here have always been fantastic.

I have spoken to two (older women) 'Secretaries' this week over the phone and it has rang out for up to 10 minutes each time, I have had to explain several times the straight forward query i have had as they have not listened and they have spoken to me very rude and abruptly - absolutely disgusting - They need to have some respect and sympathy.
I used to like this surgery but feel it is now spoilt by some of the staff on the phone lines.
I think they desperately need some training.
I would not recommend due to this issue.

NHS medical practice housed in a modern and state of the art building. The staff and GP's that I have met, so far, are both professional and caring in their attitudes. Whats not to like?

My Girlfriend and Step Son are registered here and although the doctors seem good. It is impossible to get a sensible appointment it is either totally unacceptable and in two weeks time. Or you have to ask for an emergency appointment and take your chance by calling at 8.30am in the morning.
This is now the year 2016 and you either have to lie and say the condition will not wait or just wait and by the time you get in its either gone away or your very Ill. Very dangerous and unacceptable. I am currently with my old doctor and would rather travel an extra 4 miles and at least be seen in a few days.

Some of these 'reviews' tell me more about the person writing them than about the practice; displaying lack of manners (it is unforgivable to refer to a medical person by the surname) as well as lack of perspective. Revenge is a possible motive as well as anti-feminism.
I have visited most of the doctors in the practice and have been treated
courteously as well as compassionately, no matter how trivial my reason for the visit turns out to be.
I would suggest that some of the negative reviews are the result of
juvenile spite: I certainly would not like to see the writers if I were a doctor.
Given the 'ten minute rule' and the oceans of needless bumph doctors
are forced to attend to, I am surprised that doctors retain their sanity, let alone give one a welcome.
There is also the human factor: doctors, sadly, do make mistakes but don't we all?
The person complaining about Dr Negrine assessing the intellectual level of the patient should be seen in a different light, that of the needful
assessing: as an ex-teacher I know that there is no point in utilising vocabulary that the patient does not understand or spinning webs of complex phraseology. Maybe the person's comments about Dr Negrine
are the result of getting out of bed on the wrong side. Again, doctors
    are not robots.
The nurses in the practice are without exception excellent, given a plus here or a minus there and we are very fortunate in having receptionists
who are willing to help beyond their remit.

With the exception of Lennox (I went with a agonizing ear infection so she digs in the thermometer with all her brutish might, "ow" apparently means push harder), this is a great GP clinic. My doctor (Shaw) is lovely and incredibly helpful each time I see her and I have also met Dr Roberts who is a great chap. The nurses and receptionists are lovely and helpful and always try to get the appointment that's right for you. Overall great clinic with only 1 complaint but there will always be people like that.
