I am honoured to be a part of the second year of Steam Cakes - Steampunk Collaboration and a huge thanks to Carla of Pepper Posh - Sugar Artist and João Pimentel for all their hard work compiling this year’s amazing album.

My sculpted bust is inspired by Abraham Lincoln. I find his chiseled features fascinating and an insight to this interesting man. I’ve used artistic licence in adding steampunk features to his tall top hat and a little on his jacket. Sculpted all with Saracino modelling chocolate mixed with a little modelling paste. #Saracino lustre colours used to create a bronzed metallic look. Everything is hand modelled and made my own steampunk molds for hat detailing.

Wonderful celebrations with my cousins last weekend with three birthdays!

African Cake is Orange Chocolate torte with Cointreau orange ganache filling and outer. I painted straight onto the ganached cake using Saracino cocoa butter and edible colours. Porcupine quills was #Saracino modelling paste. Lion crest and motifs were #Saracino modelling chocolate. Board covered in #Saracino pastatop and painted with their colours. Flame Lily leaves and succulents made with #artistasoft and #modena #coldporcelain.

The two small cakes are lemon drizzle (lemon curd filling) and coffee and walnut (espresso buttercream filling) roses made with #artistasoft and #modena cold porcelain.

Cake stand is #switchnswapcakestands Switch & Swap Cake Stands (innovative interchangeable cakestand elements).

Just look at this lion family done by my beautiful talented multi award winning friend Dorothy Klerck of Eat Cake Party who created this incredible sculpted cake display for FOUR PAWS South Africa endangered lions awareness campaign at Cape Town’s V & A Waterfront today. I was so excited to receive these photos I’m sharing with you, from my talented photographer son, Mike Eloff of Life of Mike who lives in Cape Town and headed down to see the magnificent display today and was understandably wowed! The workmanship and detailing, once again, is simply off the charts! Absolutely incredible installation from this amazing artist, for such a good cause #everyroarcounts
