Food always good here and, although usually busy, I never feel rushed. Staff very helpful too.

Was impressed with the quality of the food - much better than the appearance suggested. Good varied menu and helpful staff.

Love this café - Good food and lovely staff, a great milkshake and lovely homemade cakes.

The café is at the bottom end of the high street, close to the sea front. It's worth calling or popping in early to pre-book as they do get busy.

    Outdoor seating is available.

It was OK. This time the salad garnish was a bit off, other than that the food was fine but the service was slow and the place seemed over crowded.

    Outstanding Lunch and Excellent Service

Cafe 19 is quite simply one of the greatest lunchtime cafes I've visited in this country. The menu is varied, ranging from 'usual suspects' such as Cumberland Sausage and Mashed Potato to Caesar Salad and Sweet Chili Salmon. Overall this place also has a more cosmopolitan than is usual for a British seaside cafe.

Service is also astoundingly attentive and friendly, more like something I would expect to find in The United States than in Essex. Prices are a little on the high side, but this is reflected in the quality of the dishes on offer, and in their excellent preparation and presentation.

    Full marks... Outstanding...
