Founded in 1925, Banbury Rugby Club is now the most go-ahead in the region. Based behind Bannatyne's gym at Bodicote Park on the Oxford Road, the Club has just under 1,000 members, over 450 of whom are boy and girl players aged from 5 to 18 years old. Banbury’s 1st XV – the famous ‘Banbury Bulls’ – play in the South West 1 (East) League, the 6th tier of English Rugby Union. The Bulls won the Oxfordshire Cup in both 2015/16 and 2016/17. Banbury’s Youth Section is consistently the highest achiever among its Oxfordshire peer group and has earned a reputation for exceptional player and coaching development. With a 300-seat grandstand, a brand new Clubhouse plus two floodlit pitches, the Club is frequently used to stage County representative matches as well as hosting local school festivals and tournaments.
