We transferred to this surgery from another Banbury practice and have found the attention we have received to be excellent. Medical support has been thorough and staff are all so helpful and very skilled.

The receptionists are very rude and wouldn’t even let me use the toilet as I wasn’t registered, it’s attitudes like this that give the whole system a bad name

I have absolutely no idea why this Health Centre has such bad reviews! I have lived in Banbury and been a patient here for 6+ years now and this health centre is open from 8am to 8pm including bank holidays so obviously they're going to be busy. Try finding another nearby Health centre that ia open during holiday periods though! People assume they are a walk in centre and they're not! They have signa saying they're not, they can only offer you the next available appointment. I have always had nothing but good service from them. They have Turning Point on the top floor, Doctors on the middle floor and Dentists on the ground floor. I'm always dealing with them and I've always had an appointment within a day or 2. (Most of my appointments are for more medication so nothing too serious) Banbury is quite a small town so what do people expect? But they've never kept me waiting weeks. I just can't understand why the bad feedback! The Dentists on the ground floor are great too. It's a brilliant Health Centre. Maybe if people didn't just assume that it's a walk in place and just expect an appointment then and there from a small town's under staffed clinic then maybe the rating would be better! But no just blame them when things are bad but never praise them at all. The NHS is badly understaffed and under paid but nevermind eh? Grrr

You'll rarely see the same doctor twice but the service is good and the staff are helpful

Just moved to Banbury. Called the GP as I am 33 weeks pregnant. And they are not accepting any more patients. The problem is that they gave me no alternative. I never lived here so I'm quite lost.
    Really bad service!!

As someone who has moved around because of work I have my fair share of experience when it comes to GP practice and I have to say this is the worst one I have had the misfortune of dealing with.

Other reviews on the net say that it is very hard to get an appointment, the average seems to be about 2 weeks lead time.

For me dealing with them has been a real headache. I have a long term condition and fortunately I self-mange 99% of the time, but when I do have to deal with this practice it’s always an uphill struggle. Dealing with them really gets you down when they can’t deal with the most simple requests.

From losing my prescription requests to giving me other people’s prescriptions this practice seems to go from one mistake to another. The worrying thing is the blasé attitude of some staff to such issues.

Another example of failure is online record access which they do not provide despite NHS and BMA regulations saying this service must be in place by April 2016. No matter what NHS Choices says you categorically cannot get online to access your record, I have asked many times!

As well as various failings they are closed off to suggestions and new ideas, even those that have been implemented in other practices. In one specific example I was told they “can’t” on the ground of “clinical safety” despite the fact the initiative had been rolled out across many GP practices already.

This practice really seems to have no interest in providing more effective / efficient services in the interest of patients and is wasting tax payer’s money by just maintaining the status quo.

The worst part is that once you register you are locked in. Your legal right to choose a GP does not apply once you are registered locally. You cannot easily move.

Furthermore if you submit a negative review on the NHS Choices website they use very aggressive tactics and will simply strike you off. They really invest more effort in suppressing you than they do in trying to provide a quality service.

I would strongly suggest you look a little further afield to the likes Hightown Surgery which has much better ratings and provides a more modern service.

So be warned Banbury Health Centre is a small town GP practice with small minded approach.

Receptionists are very helpful and always offer for a dr to call should there not be an appointment. Drs are very professional and helpful. I've never been kept waiting too long. Longer opening hours.....overall I think this is a brilliant drs surgery with very hard working staff.

It has been years.Every time you need the doctor nobody is around.Understaffed now have only 2 doctors per day and nearest appointment you can get if you are lucky is between 3 to 5 days.Tried to get doctor to call me.They call you when they want to and if you did not pick up in few seconds you won't get chance for another one.To get to reception you need sometimes 30 minutes. So if you need medical attention try hospital or other surgeries.Once the left me on the reception floor when I lost my conciousness and I had to call emergency when I woke up.I was taken to hospital in Oxford. All that is just few of many experience I had with them.If you care of your health you better of somewhere else.
