Beautiful restaurant with nice terrace.
We went to this restaurant twice, for lunch and for dinner. The menus are different.
For lunch we tried the tagliatelle with vegetables and the burger. The pasta was fresh, nothing amazing but good pasta. The burger was great, (the meet was soft and tasty, new york style).
For dinner the menu is more sophisticated (and more pricy). We had foie and a melon soup as starters. Both of them highly recommended. And as a second an amazing "lamb leg" (soft, slow cooked, strong flavor...) and Pork Fillet Mignon ( also good, but could not compete with the lamb).
I am surprised by other critiques to this restaurant about the staff. In my opinion the staff is very friendly. Yes, they could be faster or more efficient, but to me they did not look as terrible as other people say. Their level of english is limited, but the menus are in both French and English.
Excellent food, nice vibe in a beautiful location. Service was friendly and thoughtful. We were delighted to have had dinner in this restaurant
This is a delayed review. I was there in June but the experience was so bad and vivid that it felt like yesterday. We stayed at the Fontvraut hotel. When we arrived at the hotel at about 8pm, the hotel concierge recommended this restaurant because the Fontvraut hotel restaurant was booked out for an event. She called at 8:30 and talked to the restaurant and was told that it’s ok that we come over for dinner (we knew French restaurants tend to close early especially in small towns). When we arrived a few minutes after, we were refused to be seated. The reason is laughable - the kitchen will not be able to prepare food for us with 1.5 hour left. We talked to two waiters and explained that our hotel had called and a woman at the restaurant on the phone had agreed to accept us. But the two waiters were snobbish and rude, and they wouldn't listen (they understood English perfectly). We didn't want to make a scene so we just left. We later explained this to our hotel concierge and she was appalled. If you are in the village, I’d advise you pass on this one.
Attentive service (although we had to wait for our bill to come), great food... and a little something (amuse bouche) before dinner. Generous refill of their excellent bread. $$.
Nice place, nice staff, well presented food, but the beef was dried-out and so not very tender.
Un repas en amoureux le 19 octobre. Une cuisine raffinée et recherchée, un service attentionné dans un cadre magnifique. Je recommande vivement cet établissement qui fut une très belle découverte.
Très bon
Un peu cher
Carte assez classique
Delicious dinner in a beautiful back terrace of this sleepy little village. Food and atmosphere were great and this would have gotten 4 stars if it weren't for the terrible, horrible service. Horrendous. We waited over an hour just for our water and wine to be served. Another 40 minutes after we had clearly finished our entrees for our plates to be cleared.
je reviens du Plantagenet de fontevraud et je dois dire que j'ai été enchantée par le cadre, le service et surtout le repas.
J'y retournerai, avec des amis , pour leur faire découvrir cet endroit
Unexpected high-quality dinner/dining experience in the middle of a deeply historic, but otherwise fairly sleepy village around the Fontevraud Abbey. Service was great; food was very good. Would have liked to have seem more fish/vegetarian options, but the chef/owner was flexible on all fronts.
