Kuawai Homestay is a lovely eco-oasis from reality which provides a breath of fresh air and calmness. It is a large and spacious place with wonderful views, lots of spaces for relaxation, and a natural mangrove opening into the ocean -perfect for a swimming and kayaking adventures! Cloud and David were beautiful hosts - they created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere and were also professional and very helpful.
We stayed at Kauwai Homestay in September 2017, and absolutely loved our time there. Cloud and David are amazing, fun people and they took us around on their boat, let us use their kayaks, and showed us incredible snorkeling spots. Etta, the caretaker, cooked fresh, local, and delicious food everyday and even took us to the nearby village where we were welcomed with open arms.
The only reason this review isn’t 5 stars is because while it is called a homestay, the property isn’t a full time “home” for anybody. Cloud and David live in Suva as well and are not always on the property, so sometimes it feels like a guesthouse or quiet hostel than a homestay. We had a different idea before we came to the property, and in the end enjoyed ourselves, but it shouldn’t be advertised as a homestay.
Kauwai Homestay was the highlight of our trip to Fiji. Not the easiest place to get to, but so worth the effort! A warm welcome, great location, amazing Fijian food and basic but comfortable rooms. David, Cloud and Eva made us feel at home and shared their secret snorkling spots. And did I mention the food? Wow, wow, wow. Whatever you do, don't pass on the meal plan - Eva is a wonderful cook and makes the best Fijian food I've ever tasted.
Perfect place to unwind.
