We stayed there 1 night. Very friendly staff. The place is amazing. Lots of ice sculptures, all hand crafted. Really nice experience. AND it is the cheapest of the Ice/Snow buildings in Scandinavia (without referring to any of the competition specifically). Very comfortable down sleeping bags made by Mammoth with inner (clean). The only down side when we were there, we found out the next morning that there was quite a bit of northern light activity going on during the night which we missed out on.
Magical! You feel like an ice princess when you're eating a tasty cake near the icebar and they have a chapel with angels. Whish I could marry there 💞
The snow castle when arriving doesn't seem to be that much. You'll encounter a wall of snow from a parking lot. However, when you enter the castle, that is were the magic starts. Beautiful carvings throughout the whole castle with as an added bonus: a slip and slide!
I always wanted to visit this place. The day we went weather was so good, _6 ℃ and sunny. Entrance fee is 15 € for adults.(no students discount) It is an small place with minimalist decoration. You can drink coffee and eat inside the castle. Also they have rooms like a hotel with icy beds covered with reindeers skin and icy handmade status(didn't like the atmosphere at all). If you go above the castle you can enjoy the polar landscape. In total I will give it 3 stars.
Aesthetically the Snowcastle is absolutely outstanding with almost everything inside made from/carved out of sea ice. The detail on some of the carvings is truly amazing. It is a bit claustrophobic when you stop to consider how much ice is above you. We had booked to stay overnight in one of the rooms and that's where it all went wrong for me. I'm a fairly large guy (54" chest) and no matter how we tried the sleeping bags just would not zip up properly. The temperature is maintained at -5c so it wasn't long before I was freezing at the top and toasty warm at the bottom. I gave up after a couple of hours and went to sleep in the reception area. My wife managed a fitful sleep of sorts. It is worth trying for one night if that's what floats your boat but once was definitely enough for me.
Amazing place, filled with intricate figures carved in ice and lit with coloured lights. It is a wee bit nippy in side, of course.
