Senate square is famous for it's beautiful white church, also known as Helsinki Cathedral. Place is in walking distance from the central railway station and have buildings with very beautiful European architecture. Just walk by and do visit the white church which is really a must visit place in Helsinki. Entry is free of cost and you can buy Christmas gifts from there as well.

As good square as they get. Spacious, many cafes nearby and naturally many of the landmarks of Helsinki, such as the cathedral. Senate square hosts also many events such as markets and live music. The large stairs that lead to the cathedral attract many Helsinki dwellers during the summer

Big square with nice statue in middle. Next to big white church and big wide stairs leading to them. Lot's of tourists at summer time. Place itself is nothing special but I guess it's one of those places, if you are a tourist, you are supposed to see in Helsinki.

Lovely place. Been here at least 3 times. Was sitting at the restaurant bang in front and enjoying the lovely views in the evenings. Very easyily walkable from Helsinki main bus/rail station. If you walk further, you will reach market square

Gorgeous in the summer and more light traffic as compared to other squares. Definitely worth a quick stop if you're in the area.

A slightly hidden yet popular square in Helsinki, it is surrounded by government buildings such as the president's working place. The best and most distinguished building is the cathedral which is very majestic. There's a high chance you'll find one or more street artists playing here.

Helsinki welcomes you here. The white cathedral on top of the square is the landmark of the capital. It's a good starting point for sight seeing. There isn't too much spectacle on the location itself but harbour, market hall, esplanade and shopping ave are not far.

Impressive square in front of the Cathedral. Good place to relax for a while and people watch. Not much else to do. Won't be a good place if rainy as not much cover

Helsinki cathedral, university main building and a few other old buildings making senate square the very centre of attraction of old Helsinki. By a less than 10 min walk you reach the harbor and hustle and bustle of daily market.

The Senate square is beautiful. Monumental staircase and the cathedral is beautiful seen from the outside. The inside is empty, nothing to see

This is a beautiful place on a sunny day, whether it be winter and covered in snow or summer and covered in tourists. Lots of nearby attractions - eg the cathedral, House Museum, ferry to Suomenlinna (Island fortress) - make it a good starting point for a visit.

It is a nice place to visit in Helsinki or let's say it is a symbol of Helsinki. I wasn't impress by it's interior design, but it still worth to stop and visit as the entrance is free.
