Very nice camp with all necessary equipments whether in the kitchen or living room. The cabin did not lack even a sauna, beds were beautifully soft, I have enjoyed sleeping here. A nice place to relax.

This is a review for the lodging in the wooden cabin during winter (over Christmas), not about the camping side nor for summer time which might be different. It also does not cover the organisation and handling by Transun, the organiser of our trip to go see Santa. It is only about the lodging and food.

We stayed at on of the larger cabins over Christmas 2015. It was relatively mild yet cloudy. Don't take the rating wrong, we had a lovely time, but I try to represent the amenities and services offered by the lodging and put them relative to the price we paid.

The house itself is situated just outside Hetta, close enough to the city center so you can go there on foot or the excellent sledges to buy all the things that you cannot get in the lodge. Which is absolutely everything apart from fresh water. There is a small diner like restaurant and a coffee place and a reasonably big convenience store. Be advised that everything closes at 14:00 on Christmas eve!

The cabin is functional with a lot of charm on the outside. Inside, it is functional. The living room/kitchen is reasonably big, we were 3 adults and 2 kids. The kitchen offers what you would need to keep sustained for the most important things (microwave, fridge with freezer compartment for ice cubes, kettle but no dish washer). As we had full board, we did not bother about the kitchen except for tea and GnT. There is a TV in the living room which only displays local finish stations and the menu is in finish as well. No chance to set it up differently as finish is probably the most difficult language to handle ;) The good news is that there is plenty to do outside, so we did not need the TV at all! There is enough sitting space for probably 6 persons at the table and 3 on the couch.

There is one room with 2 single beds next to the kitchen (with a small wardrobe and some hangers) and 3 single beds on the upper floor (and one balcony). The beds are very basic but good enough for a few days, although a little short for tall people (I am 180 and my feet stuck out at the end and the bed was too narrow to comfortably lay on the side). The beds were not changed during our stay, which is fine for a rented apartment.

The bathroom is spacious but not very functional. Most of the space is wasted. It leads directly to the sauna which is a nice add on. However, when you use it, all the electricity for the heating gets cut. So no heating during sauna. Luckily, the house seems to be insulated well enough so it is still warm enough when you come out of the sauna. The lights continue to work during the sauna, so anyone not joining can continue reading or doing other things. There is a shower but no bath tub and a washing machine for clothes. We did not use the latter so cannot say if useful or not. The shower was on the small side but functional although it felt a little flimsy and like an afterthought.

The promised fireplace in the living room was non functional and an artificial "fire" was installed on a timer (it consisted on a fan blowing up some red cloth which was lightened with some lights). It did not really compensate fore the advertised open fire and could have made look much nicer if the technology was somewhat hidden.

Very positive about the house is the amount and placement of power plugs. They are the standard European ones, that was very useful! On the other side, we had daily power outs. Most of them only lasted a few minutes, one of them for a full hour or even more. Be prepared to have enough head lights and keep them handy as it really gets very dark!

The food was on a very tight schedule. you had one hour for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The times were not really announced and only could be found out by asking as they changed every day. The quality of the food was ok for the circumstances. It was all brought from a remote kitchen down the road. For the amount of money not really what we did expect. There was always enough though and there was something for everyone.
