The fact that I managed to get from the train to my gate in 14 minutes without rushing and dropping off a suitcase speaks for itself. A compact and efficient airport with all of the necessary amenities plus a bit on top.
Finlands main international airport. Seems to be always under some construction/renovation. But, its modern with perfectly working facilities. One of the few airports that stays operational almost in any weather imaginable. Especially in winter, naturally. As airports go it is as any other international airport, all normal shops/services. As a bonus, parking is very fairly priced.
It is an OK airport. Not too much to do though.
Unlike most airports, extremely thorough when going through the security check. It could cause some delay when there are too many travellers but felt like they were doing their job properly.
The airport is very clean and easy to find transfer gate. The only minus for the time being is that most of shops are closed.
love this country. love the food. not too congested. love the freedom. love everything. in the uk, sometimes i feel mental due to things being less proper here
An amazing airport! Super convenient design. The Finnair lounge is wonderful! Very good for connections to Asia!
Clean and modern. Some 60 odd gates. Can be a long walk from one end to the other. Some interesting shops but could do with a couple more coffee shops.
Nice and clean. Voted "the best airport in the Europe". Moomins everywhere! (Thank you Tove Jansson) ;) Beautiful red head girls. Reindeer burgers. Chirping birds in the very nice and clean restroom. Airport is small from outside and huge inside. Plenty of restaurants and different stores. Staff is very attentive, helpful and friendly. Credit card accepted everywhere. Automatic kiosks for passport control for citizens of European Union. Port is extremely clean and well maintained.
One of the best airport, very clean and easy to navigate. The lounges are amazing too. Great last minute shopping options too. They have done a great job preserving this airport to give it a new and fresh look. Dont waste your time going to Paris’ Charles De Gaulle airport, its the complete opposite.
Very organized with helpful bi-lingual staff. The bathrooms are the cleanest I've EVER seen in an airport. They even play nature sounds! You will be confused by the joy when you hear bird tweeting while you peepee!!
Helsinki airport has variety of resturants with nice interior. This award winning airport is the place where you kill transit time without any trouble.
Nice and well designed airport.
If you have 3 or more hours to your transfer it is worth to take a train and go to Helsinki centre. Train goes every 10 minutes (at rush hours), you need 10-15 minutes to get to the station at the airport and 30 minutes for your trip to the town. Ticket cost 5 EUR adult, 2,50 children (August 2017), can be purchased at ticket machine on the way to the station.
An excellent airport, with kind people, perfect services and fine shops. Great brand new rail station that has every 10 minutes connections to the city centre of Helsinki. Significant to notice the cultural sessions and exhibhitions throughout the year. As a half-Finn, I have been there every year, and I really enjoy being at this airport. I love this place, as it isn't an ordinary airport, but a cultural centre. A place that tells history and a remarkable attraction
Good airport but they still lack international common sense. In every airport have been when airlines discovered that one passenger has not yet arrived, announcements are been made calling the passenger name for a period of time and the flight are most of the time put on hold, but in Helsinki airport, I was told today 17 august 2017 that for sometime now, they have stop making announcements cos the people (Finnish) are quiet people. This is really not a good omen for an international airport
As airports go, it's nice. They even have some nice bars and cafes. I think asking whether you'd recommend it is the wrong question. However nice an airport is we only ever go there by necessity, not because someone has recommended it!
A complete disaster at security check during transfer from a long haul flight. There was a trainee at the scan machine being trained so it took ages to get through. Of course I understand that they need to be trained however I am sure it could be done in times when not houndreds of travellers try to get through to their connecting flights. It should be much better organised, maybe only 2-3 people to be allowed to get to that sec check line etc. Plus there was no 'sorry' from the staff Hardly acceptable
Very nice airport easy to follow signs. The bird sounds are nice very relaxing. Not a lot of seating when waiting at the gate.
A very nice airport, though smaller than I thought. It is very nature based with images and sounds of nature everywhere. It was very pleasant having a layover here with comfy seats and electronic charging points everywhere. The large windows everywhere really allow sunlight to enter so you don't feel trapped. Most of the signs are in both Finish and English as well as Chinese.
Expensive, but so is Helsinki. The airport is clean, in particular the bathrooms which had the sounds of chirping birds piped in for those of us who are pee-shy. I found the men working the passport control area to be unhelpful (if not rude to foreign travelers who asked questions or did not understand what was being said). But after landing at JFK and spending 4+ hours to go through immigration and customs, I admire how easy European airports handle that process. Duty free did not seem to promote Finnish items as prominently as well-known global brands. As the gateway airport of Santa Claus, I would expect more
It is a clean and sparkly place with a very nice international feel. As it has been pointed out in other reviews, everything is very expensive. Having said that, the price level shouldn't be a surprise since it is an airport.
It does seem to get quite crowded during business hours. and the layout is a bit of a maze but thankfully the directions are clear and it's surprisingly easy to find an employee who will help you.
