Hi abdul Fatah I went to tell you someone wants to you good bye h
Small stop right after crossing the border from Ethiopia. Easy access to most cities in Somaliland. There are usually immigrants to western countries coming through here to visit family so there's a good chance someone speaks English and if you're having trouble the locals will usually find an English speaker for you. They are very kind. Try the local hand roasted coffee!!
Nov 2014 rate from here to Hargeisa was 200 Burr (10 USD). It costs double to sit in the front seat. Taxi rates in Hargeisa are US $3-5 within the city. Hargeisa local bus Nov 2014 rate 1,500 Schilling per ride.
You won't need Somaliland Schilling if you have small birr or US $1-5. Burr is rarely accepted in Hargeisa or other cities. Pay in dollars and receive Schilling back, I would sometimes if a US 5 to buy a soda. Nov 2014 US $1 - 7000 Somaliland Schilling. US dollars are the preferred currency. Counting out 70-150 Schilling notes gets old really fast. If you want to exchange for Schilling find a store that has a cage full of money out front (seriously - they are everywhere). Someone will come up, hand them the money and they will count out and give you the new currency. Don't exchange more than 20 USD here. Don't bring the attention to yourself. Plus you'll rarely use Schilling so you don't need much. The most common schilling bills are 1,000 and 500 so you will end up with a massive amount of bills to carry.
Everyone in Somaliland was kind and honest when I was here for a month. Snapping fingers is the accepted way to get someone's attention here so expect people to snap at you.
If you're a foreigner don't forget to visit the Ethiopian immigration building on west side of the road before crossing the bridge. Then visit Somaliland immigration in the building to the east of this bus stop. Nov 2014 entrance fee for US Citizens was $25. They accepted a mix of currencies and were honest in offering change back. Very kind and helpful, moderate English.
