SHAPEthiopia was founded in August 2006 with a vision of creating a future where all people in Ethiopia live happy, healthy, productive, and dignified lives. SHAPEthiopia is registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies Agency (CHSA) as an Ethiopian Resident Charity in accordance with the Proclamation No. 621/2009 with the registration number of 3498 and licensed by the same Agency to operate at the national level in Ethiopia.Since its establishment, SHAPEthiopia has been running various life-changing projects and programs in six H.O.P.E. Centers in Woredas/districts in southern Ethiopia and now it is transforming and growing, and planning to expanding its activities into twenty-two (22) new districts in five Regional States of Ethiopia; namely: SNNP Regional State (8 districts), Oromia Regional State (4 districts), Amhara Regional State (4 districts), Afar Regional State (3 districts), and Addis Ababa (3 districts), so that to reach out over 4,200 vulnerable children, their families (especially single mother lead families) and their communities each year over the next five years.OUR MISSIONSHAPEthiopia's mission is to educate and support vulnerable children and youth, empower impoverished women, and assist their communities to build stronger and more resilient communities in Ethiopia.OUR FOCUS AREASSHAPEthiopia's major focus areas are: nutrition, health, education, clean water, women's empowerment, sustainable agriculture and food security, and sanitation, hygiene and environmental protection.OUR STORYIn late 2009, Desalegn Daka met a UK developmental economist, Owen Barder. Owen then introduced Desalegn with an American entrepreneur, David Howlett, who helped Desalegn reach many Americans. Since then, many people and organizations have joined the fight and SHAPEthiopia is making real progress in empowering real life change in the communities of Shanto, Dale, Boricha, Humbo, Hawassa, Arba Minch and beyond in Ethio.
