Interesting to visit, but old and old fashioned. The artifacts deserve a better presentation.

Got to see "Lucy" up close and learned more history about Ethiopia. Some displays of previous king's items. Small museum and not well lit for some of the displays. Cheap entry fee, 10 birr.

Nice but generally basic museum covering paleontology to modern times. Nice displays on ancient mammals and the ascent of man, including replica of Lucy's bones. Basic and not very interesting displays on ethnicity and royal clothing. Some nice artefacts from Axum era. Watch for the big Opmec head from Central America on the front lawn, how did that get there?

Great, well-layed-out museum with lots of information, and cheap (10 birr?) entrance fee.

I enjoyed my visit to the Godambaa Biyyoolessa Museum.
I wish there were more dust free incasing for all artifacts.

Being the National Museum, I found it to be a bit shallow on the history of such a culturally rich nation. The museum is as well quite small and other than the fossils, the other displays are unimpressive. On the flip side, entry fee is very minimal giving no reason for anyone to skip a tour.

The Ethiopian National Museum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is located close to the University of Addis Ababa Graduate School. The museum houses numerous antiquarian relics and archaeological artefacts showing the history of Ethiopia from prehistoric times to the modern day. The most famous exhibit of the museum is 3.2 million-year-old bones of the hominid Lucy/ Australopithecus Afarensis/

Place could use some work. No doubt, Ethiopia was one of the places of first human evolution but the place could refurbish once in a while. The paintings and overall setting is all monotone and the stuff looks like it hasn't been touched in years. This was pretty good in showing the human ancestors and old instruments used back in the years. But overall, some cleaning and more investment could make this a palace.

Great place for adults to enjoy but leave the kids at home with a babysitter. Very educational and the guide is very friendly, speaks English well enough, and will gladly answer any questions you may ask. Children will become bored very quickly and want to leave because of the amount of historical items that generally get a short lecture in front of each piece. Beautiful garden in the front with a large tortoise that you can feed lettuce leaves. All in all good time.

Great place. You should bring a basic interest in history and paleontology. Four floors with "a lot of bones, stones and artifacts" that give a guideline through the countries amazing history, including the world renowned Lucy.

The artifacts were perfect I enjoyed the museum the portraits historical artifact I enjoyed. My issue was the poor lighting in the place I had to use my cell phone flashlight to actually try to read some of the name tags and the information description that they had in the bottom and other description tags they had were worn out and unreadable.

As a tourist, I was not sure what to expect when going to see Lucy. The admission was very cheap (10 birr) and there was lots to see, but all can be seen within 90 minutes to 2 hours. The exhibits were very informative and held a lot of very interesting facts. The extrapolations and representations of other species, their evolution, and their geographic habitats gave a wonderful insight into what our world was like many thousands to millions of years ago. Well worth the visit and a must see in Addis.

Low maintenance has made this museum itself look like the past. It seemed everything was done hurried or halfway, wasn't impressed at all except for the garden in the courtyard. Lucy of course was a great thrilling to see but that's about it.

It's a good place to visit whilst in Addis. and it has 4 floors. The archaeological floor is the best and the information is extensive (written in Amharic and English). The gardens at the front are very pretty. It probably takes about an hour to see it all.

It is one of the most interesting places to know about Ethiopia and its history. what makes it even more interesting is the oldest human fossil in the world(Lucy and Ardi) is found in this museum. Inside the compound there is also another building dedicated to art exhibitions, also a nice place for art lovers.

Great to visit some ancestors, and there are other things to see, both ancient historical, and modern Ethiopian history. Lighting a little low so take a very good camera, although you can buy postcards on the top floor.

Took less than 2 hours to visit, and was well worth it.
