King’s hotel is a questionable option for anyone looking for a place to stay in the Sarbet area.

The beds are pretty bad, the bathrooms are inconsistent in quality, mosquitoes, bed bugs, and fleas are not uncommon, and the smelloh the smell. King’s is situated next to what could be described as the most offensively pungent river in Addis; it’s rooms possess a musty old ness to them. Add to that that the restaurant is just okay while not being very competitively priced—and a prevalence of prostitution—and you get a hotel that is definitely not the best you can do in the area.

On top of the old hotel’s building you’ll find a lighted sign that says “Kings Hotel,” with 4 stars under the words. It’s fitting that one of the stars doesn’t function.

For what you get, I'll have to admit that King's Hotel is prodigiously expensive. For a night's stay in an admittedly titanic king sized bed with a private bath, you could stay at a lesser furnished hotel while being able to go to the Radisson Blu Rainforest Day Spa with the money you saved. On top of this, I can't say that it's location is all that great either. The food is decent, though the buffet-style breakfast options include cereal, which for me is tremendous. The rooms are alright, though I've found that they can often have an oddly high number of mosquitoes in them. Additionally, some rooms are significantly better than others while priced the same. While the employees at King's are excellent and the service relatively spot on, I'd nevertheless recommend staying at Ghion or Ras Hotel over King's Hotel.
