  Took a minibus here. A little confusing to navigate, expect to pay for an entrance ticket, a community guide, and a boat ride ticket. The guide is optional; the path is straight forward and short so you don't really need one. You can see plenty of birds along the way.

  I like physical geography and this is part of it. These historical waters trickle down the rocks splashing down the falls in an attracting beauty for those who love nature and its aura. The blue waters are real!

  The waters passing over these falls is seasonal. During the rain season the falls are most impressive the falls are wide and spectacular. Unfortunately during the dry season the falls dry up. This drying up function was exacerbated when the Tis Abay hydropower station was constructed.
  
  Water is channelled by way of a canal to the power station. The generated power is fed into the national grid.

  Na niebieskim Nilu jest wodospad i tama. Wodospad Tis Abay lub Tis Yssat, co oznacza „woda, która dymi" spada z wysokości 45 do 50 metrów, drugie tyle wody zasila pobliską elektrownię. Woda wypływa z jeziora Tana z wysokości 1800 m n.p.m.
  Wodospad nie jest rewelacyjny, ale na tej rzece i w tym kraju to największy.
  W czasie kiedy tam byłem, był to okres suszy, więc wodospad był mały, a koryto rzeki, do której wpadał, było prawie puste.
  
  Wodospad ten został opisany przez szkockiego podróżnika Jamesa Bruce w XVIII wieku, który tak opisał swoje doznania widząc ten wodospad "Imponujący to widok, jakiego po kres swych dni nie zapomnę. Majestat ten poraził mnie swym pięknem, nic z rzeczy, jakie dotąd widziałem, równać się z nim nie może". Swoją drogą jego opis co do wymiarów wodospadu był zafałszowany, ale jego doznania też można uznać za bardzo indywidualne hi hi
