Picasso - Lautrec exhibition is fantastic. Uncovers unexpected connections between two artists. Presents large amount of works which everyone can enjoy regardless whether you accept or don't the concept of these connections.

I loved the space. 3 floors of permanent exhibition, presenting art works from 15th century up until contemporary artists. A variety of temporary exhibition is also impressive. Highly recommended!

In my opinion this is the best art museum in Madrid, as it has the most breadth. It's also organized fairly well, and easy to find the works that one wants. It's a fair price for what it has, and the layout means there are no crowds, making it easy to see the paintings. There are works by so many great masters here that it would be impossible to list them all.

It's laid out methodically and has a great collection. We spent 6 hours here and then left because we got tired. We could have easily spent another 4 hours here. They also have a cafe indoors

Fantastic, world class gallery and blissfully without the long lineups seen at the Prado. There are many, many notable works here representing a good coverage of most artistic periods. The audio tour, while not essential, is highly recommended. If you are a visitor to Madrid don't miss it.

Wonderful collection of art. It is a must if you love art and are around Madrid. The museum shop is also really nice and the restaurant is ok too.

Beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our family visit. We like to keep things brisk with kids in tow, but still our 9-year-old happily managed three hours here (albeit with a quick drink break).
For families and casual admirers of art, I'd recommend this as top of your list - over the Prado - if you only want to do one museum in Madrid.response / report this review -

Fantastic gallery. I prefer the Prado as like to go in depth, but for a broad overview to the entire history of art, the Thyssen is tough to beat. This is therefore the perfect place to take somebody if they aren't a huge fan of art, but are interested to learn more. It's also good for those with greater knowledge, as you'll see lots of your favourites and build your understanding of periods/schools you might not have looked into before.
I'm looking forward to taking my gf here some day, as she falls into the former group.response / report this review -

This is a museum that anyone can and will love. My top recommendation for anyone visiting Madrid. This museum was hands down my favorite in the city. It has an amazing collection of art from all over the world, with a taste of everything. It is truly the perfect size, you can take anywhere from 2-4 hours to see the entire museum depending on how fast or slow you decide to go. A must-see!
