I have visited this area several times in recent years and consider it to be one of the most naturally beautiful places I have ever seen. The terrain around the Ulldecona reservoir is certainly rugged, but is also very accessible thanks to a well maintained network of waymarked footpaths (senderos). These make it perfectly possible for visitors to reach some very lofty and remote spots with little more than a pair of sensible shoes and a local route map (1 euro from the visitor centre, and well worth the price). If you're ever in the north of the Valencian community, be sure to visit this lovely place.
