The Parador de Zafra is set in a wonderful Renaissance castle with a spectacular courtyard, which doubles as a dinning room and bar. Needless to say the Parador experience is consistently outstanding, great people, restaurant and food. We visited in the summer and enjoyed relaxing by the pool on the hot lazy afternoons. The Parador de Zafra is a great place to stay if you ever venture into Extremadura.

For the price this Parador was amazing. Big spacious room with several balconies that framed gorgeous views of Zafra. Giant bath tub was great for relaxing after a long day, the only problem was having to run the hot water for almost 15 minutes before it came out at a reasonable temperature. The restaurant was very good. The breakfast even better with made to order eggs and a buffet of fruit, breads, cereal, and bacon and sausage.

My only complaint would be once inside, it didn't feel as old as it did on the outside. Though that could be for the better.
