Muy decadente sin renovaciones. Diría que está a fecha de cuando lo inaugurara Fraga. Servicios y mobiliario antiquísimo. Habitación destartalada y poco acogedora con baño de los años 60. Mejor te quedas en Cazorla. Mira lo que digo en la foto. De justicia hay que decir que el desayuno es muy bueno

En un entorno maravilloso, el parador se encuentra un poco decadente. Ls camas duras y almohada muy usada. Personal agradable.

Nos encontramos un lugar rodeado de naturaleza, entre gamos y jabalíes, nos dimos un baño con expectaculares vistas a la sierra de cazorla, pasamos el anochecer en esa terraza donde el único ruido que escuchabamos era el sonido del viento de los árboles.
Sin olvidar el personal del parador de cazorla, mas que agradables, ayudando en todo. Gracias por hacernos pasar tres días inigualables.

A lovely place to stay.
As you drive around (very carefully - the roads are not fun!) the Sierra de Cazorla, you will see that there are quite a number of hotels.
But none has the great advantage of the Parador - its fabulous position.
And none have its big disadvantage - its horrific position. :-)
Let's get the horror over with first. It's in the middle of nowhere, I reckon it's 25 minutes or more to the nearest shop, so if you forget your toothpaste you can't pop out and buy some. Nor can you go out to a local bar for coffee and toast at €2 instead of €16 for a (admittedly lavish) Parador breakfast, nor have a little after-dinner stroll. No choice of evening dining, either. And the road to get here is narrow, windy and just a bit scary, especially as the hotel staff who drive up and down it twice a day treat it with disdain and roar around the corners in the middle of the road.
But having said that, once you get there, it is magical.
In the forest with the most spectacular views of any Parador - and we have been to quite a few. There are hiking paths that leave from the back of the Parador, and they will prepare a packed lunch for you.
There is a long terrace where you can just sit and gaze at the trees, the mountains, listen to the birds. A children's playground and a swimming pool in season.
Breakfast was excellent, with the exception of the hot chocolate which was not Spanish chocolate but powdered Cola-Cao. Dinner was not bad - the ham was outstanding, but the meat was rather ordinary and despite asking for it to be well done, was bloody inside. Even the pork - underdone pork is just not acceptable on health grounds. And no, there wasn't a language problem in requesting well done as we are bilingual Spanish-English.
We sent the meat back, but when it was returned some ten minutes later, the accompanying vegetables were stone cold. Not good, kitchen!
We paid extra for the Superior room, well worth it as the room is bigger and above all has the better view. Unfortunately the soundproofing is very poor and there were children next door, noisy children.
Noisy children - noisy English children - were a major disadvantage, but I'm not sure that the hotel can do anything about this, so cannot be blamed.
I DO hope that you are reading this, the English family with two primary-aged daughters who ruined the peaceful meal of the whole dining room every single evening. I have taught primary, and I know that id you hold any sort of quiz or competition, they get over-excited and squeal and scream.
So spending every meal time playing guessing games - "My first sounds like 'one'" will encourage excited squeals of "I know it, I know it - Don Quijote!" . Which could be heard all through the dining room.
But I shan't remove a star from my review of the Parador de Cazorla because of the thoughtless behaviour of other guests.
As I said - it's magical.

You can feel the nature here. Nice views in an historical building. Great service and food.

Service good but basic. Expect to be carrying your own suitcases up the stairs as there's no lift. The room also had no air conditioning so had a bad night's sleep and despite the majestic setting we had a view of the internal courtyard car park which our car couldn't even find room in so was parked down the road.
Positives outweighed the negatives through as setting was great, the pool nice and quiet and at night when they turned off the outside lights the view of the stars incredible.
Evening meal was good but not up to standard of other Paradors, but then you don't exactly have much choice.response / report this review
