Not very well known but worth a visit if you got plenty of time in Madrid.

Nice little place, but too far from the main city. Not sure if you would like to travel all the way just to see this museum.

A rare glimpse into the past. It's a nice place to visit if you are into old trains and such. There are various railway related items exhibited in the waiting rooms that worth to visit. Also, there is a room where model trains are on show presenting the history of trains from steam to bullet trains.
My favourite piece is a steam engine cut up in a way that shows the inner working parts of the locomotive. It's like an exploded drawing but in 3D. Maybe it's my fault but I didn't find any written explanations or guides about the technical details of the trains or what they did what they were capable of. None the less I enjoyed being there. The trains are not moving so it's a fairly safe place for kids too.

If your into trains the museum is interesting, special stuff for kids. More interesting (for me) are activities they hold especially Mercado Moto held once a month, bands, artisans and food blend in a laid back atmosphere (and you get to climb into all the trains

Great little museum for very reasonable entry price. The displays could use a bit more updating but overall great.

Wonderful museum, specially if you love industrial design, history and/or you are a kid. Plus, people attending you there are wonderfully kind.

We were here for Mercado de Motores, which is awesome. It's underrated -- if you're there on the weekend of the month when the market takes place, don't miss it. It's full of wonderful artists, food and drink, all set in the beautiful and amazing old Museo del Ferrocarril (Railroad Museum). You walk up and down the platforms, with delightful vendors on one side and historic train cars, some of which you can view, on the other side. And there are antiques for sale just outside the station. Highly recommended!

Good display of railway engines from different eras and excellent collection of model trains from many countries. Good cafe.
